Bearded Hatchet concept

Form and Concept Development

Initial foam models were meant to feel top heavy like the typical hatchet and using the foam options were explored for how the head would mount to the handle. initially the model was rough to determine areas that should be heaviest, and which areas should be the biggest. the intention behind this bearded limbing hatchet was to give it a handle that would help extend the reach of the average gardener pruning lower branches from larger trees. by giving the handle a sharp curve and a wide base it made the from easy to retain in the hand and useful even at full extension of the arm as one didnt need to awkwardly crane the wrist.
