Please Prepare to Sing the melody of the National Anthem:
Determine which key or what pitch you will start this song (pick a range that is comfortable and singable for you)
Perform it in a general style: no belting or extra notes outside of the songs main melody
Things the Director will Observe/Listen for:
Can you keep pitch throughout the piece?
Intonation (note-to-note accuracy)
How you prepare/sing the big leap (M10) in the middle of the song
Which registers you use throughout the song (use of chest voice and head voice)
Diction, Vowel Shapes
Engagement of Breath Support
After the audition piece, student will be asked to do the following:
Tonal Memory: sing back notes in your range that are played on the piano
Sing back a short melody after repeated plays
Sing back a note in a chord played on the piano
Identify Note Values, Names
Identify Accidentals
Identify Dynamics
Locate your vocal line
Locate measures on a score
IMPORTANT:
Auditions will take place the first day of classes.
Attendance is crucial, and a huge part of your grade.
Students must be available for all classes, rehearsals, sectionals, retreat, call-times, and performances.
