SOLAR POWER SYSTEM (SPS) IN SUPPORT TO COMPOSTING FACILITY FOR BIODEGRADABLE WASTES (CFBW) OPERATIONALIZATION
Background
The Solar Power System (SPS) was initiated to support the energy requirements of the Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) as part of efforts to enhance operational sustainability and efficiency. The integration of SPS ensures a reliable and renewable power source for the operation of key composting equipment such as shredders and blowers, especially in areas with unstable electricity supply. This initiative contributes to the promotion of environmentally sound practices by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and supporting the full operationalization of the CFBW towards improved waste management and soil health.
The BSWM has initiated the installation of a Solar Power System for the CFBW unit located in Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. This initiative is a pioneering effort to address region-specific operational difficulties while serving as a pilot project to assess the feasibility of renewable energy integration within the program. Solar power, as a clean and renewable energy source, aligns with the government’s commitment to sustainable development and supports national efforts to promote green energy solutions.
