The Compost Production Implementation Team (CPIT), under the Department of Agriculture - Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), serves as the lead team in the implementation of the compost production through composting facilities, Composting Facility for Biodegradable Wastes (CFBW) and Small-Scale Composting Facility (SSCF). Guided by various legal bases, CPIT aims to promote efficient utilization of biodegradable wastes through composting practices.
With a focus on enhancing soil health, restoring soil fertility, and reducing soil degradation, CPIT provides technical assistance, capacity development, and monitoring support to Local Government Units (LGUs), farmers, and other stakeholders. CPIT plays a vital role in ensuring that compost production contributes not only to sustainable agriculture, but also to climate change mitigation, food security, and circular economy goals in line with the agency’s mission.
The Compost Production Implementation Team (CPIT) is dedicated to enhancing soil health and promoting sustainable agricultural practices by converting biodegradable waste into nutrient-rich compost. We aim to reduce landfill waste, lower carbon footprints, and promote a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations.
A healthy and resilient agricultural ecosystem through sustainable composting practices, contributing to the enhancement of soil health and soil fertility, and the reduction of soil degradation.
Improve soil health through the use of compost produced;
Reduce solid waste through utilization of biodegradable wastes as valuable resources;
Significantly contribute to Philippines GHG emission reduction;
Strengthen the capacity of beneficiaries to produce quality organic fertilizers/compost; and
Promote the extensive use of both quality organic fertilizers/compost in the production of rice, corn, high-value crops, and other crops through Adaptive Balanced Fertilization Strategy (ABFS).
