Hardware Setup

Connect the VGA display to the VGA Port on the Nexys4 Board

Part 1 - Configuring FPGA

Create a new project named 'hexcalc'
Create a new VHDL source file 'leddec16.vhd' and insert the code
Create a new VHDL source file 'ball.vhd' and insert the code
Create a new VHDL source file 'vga_top.vhd' and insert the code
Create a new XDC constraint file 'vga_top.xdc' and insert the code
Run the Generate Bitstream (it will also run Synthesis and Implemented Design if out-of-date)
Open the Hardware Manager and connect the Nexys 4 DDR board.
Program the device with the file 'hexcalc.bit'

Part 2 - Changes

To perform leading zero suppression, modify the 'anode' of the code in 'leddec.vhd' as shown to the right

To perform subtraction operations, do the following as shown to the right:

a) Introduce a new signal in 'hexcalc.vhd'

b) Modify the 'WHEN ENTER_ACC' code in 'hexcalc.vhd'

c) Modify the 'WHEN ENTER_OP' code in 'hexcalc.vhd'

d) Add a propery called 'bt_sub' and assign an open button pin

to it in 'hexcalc.xdc'
