The Crisis Pregnancy Center works alongside the Place of Refuge to offer an Adolescent Parenting Program for young women who wish to parent their child.
APP offers support in helping teen parents reach their goals by:
One-on-one sessions with an APP coordinator
Monthly peer group meetings and fun field trips
Free diapers, wipes, baby supplies, and more for achieving your goals
Our Focus:
Preventing a second pregnancy
Staying in school or finishing your GED
Improving parenting skills
Abstinence education
Building self-esteem and confidence
Preparing for the future
Helping with the needs of the parent and child/children
Aiding in the emotional and physical needs of each parent
Requirements:
Parents must be ages 11-19
Must be pregnant or parenting
Having willingness to learn and improve on parenting skills
Why?
Statistics show that girls who become mothers by the time they are 17 are likely to:
​Drop out of school
Become pregnant again in two to three years
Have a difficult time with parenting skills
Have a harder time finding a job to support themselves and their child/children
