Our Mission
In the face of school closures and extracurricular cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Covid NineTEEN Project aims to combat growing educational inequities by providing FREE daily teen-led activities and one-on-one tutoring to support elementary school students. Our teen volunteers serve as mentors for elementary school children to help them fill their time and ensure they continue to flourish despite the uncertainty of the outside world.
We now have served over 2900 students in activities and 600 students in tutoring from 14 different countries. Our team of 275+ teen mentors host 50+ activities per week and offer tutoring in 33 different languages! Our daily activities and tutoring have been provided for 55 weeks!

We are high school students who aim to help elementary school students as teen mentors. We hope to bring some joy and learning during this time of quarantine.

How does our programming work?
We offer:
1) Daily one-one-one tutoring in English, Math, Science, and History (offered in 15 different languages) for 30-minute sessions during either Block 1 (2 pm - 3 pm PDT on weekdays, 11 am - 12 pm PDT on weekends) or Block 2 (5 pm - 6 pm PDT on weekdays, 2 pm - 3 pm PDT on weekends).
2) Daily activity sessions from 1 pm to 5 pm PDT on weekdays and 9 am to 3 pm PDT on weekends, ranging from arts to academics to athletics and more!

Student Sign Up
Parents sign up for our weekly newsletter and the weekend prior, an email is sent with the activities and timing for the week (also available digitally on our website, updated weekly). After filling out the attached Google Form in the email or website, an email is sent to the parent with the Zoom link.
Tutoring
Students will join a Zoom session where they will be matched with a tutor based on the subject. Students can be tutored in Math, English, History, or Science (offered in multiple languages).
