The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met September 18-19, 2025, to discuss three vaccines: MMRV, hepatitis B, and COVID-19.
The committee voted in favor of minor changes to recommendations for the following vaccines:
Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV)
COVID-19
There were no votes on hepatitis B.
Until the CDC makes a formal recommendation, no changes to vaccine guidance will be made.
Please see the VDH Vaccine Update Webpage for the latest updates and COVID-19 vaccine FAQs.
Once CDC makes its formal recommendation, talking points will be updated and distributed.

What’s Changing
Soft Bounce Tracking: Our system now monitors repeated temporary delivery failures (e.g. a full inbox).
Automatic Cleanup: If an email address experiences multiple soft bounces (1 per day for up to 5 days) within a 30-day window, it will be flagged and removed from all subscriptions. This prevents repeated delivery attempts to unreachable addresses.
Hard Bounces & Spam Reports (ARF): These will continue to be handled as permanent failures, resulting in unsubscribing and blocklisting the email address.
What This Means for You
Better inbox placement and engagement.
Protection of your sender reputation with major email providers.
Accurate subscriber lists without extra manual effort.
No action is required on your part. These updates will roll out automatically as part of our ongoing improvements, beginning Thursday, September 18, 2025.
