RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is reporting the state’s third measles case of the year. The patient is a child (0-4 years) in the Northwest Region who developed symptoms after exposure to another Virginia measles case. To protect the family’s privacy, VDH will not provide any additional information about the patient. Public health officials are coordinating efforts to identify anyone who might have been exposed. Virginia’s state and local agencies are required to manage all public records, including electronic records, according to the Virginia Public Records Act, or VPRA (Code of Virginia § 42.1-76–§ 42.1-91). On June 9 and 27 at 10am, there will be an electronic records management training that will discuss record retention requirements. The presentations will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a Q & A session. These trainings will only be offered live and will not be recorded. No prior registration is required.
