RICHMOND, Va. – The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is reporting the state’s second measles case of the year. The patient is a teenager (13-17 years) in the Northwest Region who recently traveled internationally. To protect the family’s privacy, VDH will not provide any additional information about the patient. Health officials are coordinating efforts to identify anyone who might have been exposed. Alt text (alternative text) is a written description of an image’s content that helps visually impaired people and other people with disabilities understand what an image shows.
When screen readers reach content with alt text, the alt text is read aloud so that people can better understand what's on the screen. It also helps search engine bots understand image contents and will appear on a page when the image fails to load.
Alt text should be used on webpages, newsletters, Microsoft Word documents and PowerPoints.
Virginia’s state and local agencies are required to manage all public records, including electronic records, according to the Virginia Public Records Act, or VPRA (Code of Virginia § 42.1-76–§ 42.1-91). On June 9 and 27 at 10am, there will be an electronic records management training that will discuss record retention requirements. The presentations will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by a Q & A session. These trainings will only be offered live and will not be recorded. No prior registration is required.
