Stride is an Internet-based academic program that gives students the opportunity to enhance their Math, Reading, and Language Arts skills while working on their tablet or computer. Stride’s activities are based on Common Core State Standards and, therefore, are closely linked to the content students will study in school.
Students are required to work at least 60 minutes a week in Stride Math. As needed, students may be asked to work in Reading and Science.
ALVA will be using Stride as our interim assessments throughout the year. Students in grades K-8 will have Reading and Math assessments. Students in grades 5 and 7 will have Reading, Math and Science assessments.
Stride is a single sign on. Students will be linked to the program within their Stride course. Once they click that link they will be automatically logged in.
As you spend time in Stride, you’ll be answering questions in different subjects to practice your skills and earn coins to play games. From time to time, some of your questions will be from assessments that will help your teacher identify your strengths and weaknesses. Be sure you answer questions without any help so your teacher can get accurate information from the results. You may see some questions you haven’t learned yet – just do your best. Your teacher may be able to supply you with additional resources to help you get better at certain skills.
