The celebration of Filipino American History Month in October commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587, when “Luzones Indios” came ashore from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanza and landed at what is now Morro Bay, California. Avery & Augustine, creator Michelle Sterling, shares some of favorite Filipino books for kids including picture books, chapter books and middle grade books that celebrate Filipino culture, heritage and history. This month we are discussing the importance of feelings and recognizing the feelings within ourselves and others. Identifying our feelings can help us feel safe and calm. When we know how we are feeling we can ask for help and we can be better friends to each other by helping someone when they are not feeling well. But why do we have feelings at all?

What is "Universal Remote"? Universal Remote means that we will all be starting off the school year online. That does not mean that your teachers and counselor will not be here to support you. We will definitely be here for you, but this might look a little different from last year.
