My CSCP, or comprehensive school counseling program, is the plan I have created in order to best serve my students through direct and indirect services, classroom guidance, small group counseling, etc. The main focus of my CSCP is advocating for all students and promoting an atmosphere of kindness and care.
My CSCP is based on the framework set forth by the ASCA National Model and the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.
"A comprehensive school counseling program is an integral component of the school’s academic mission. Comprehensive school counseling programs, driven by student data and based on standards in academic, career and personal/social development, promote and enhance the learning process for all students" (ASCA, 2016).
"As educators continue to seek equity for students through quality programming in all facets of the educational program, the Texas Model describes what constitutes a quality school counseling program – a “comprehensive developmental counseling program” – which provides equal opportunities for all students to receive guidance and counseling. This comprehensive school counseling program plays a vital role in assisting educators in the integration of counseling objectives with other instructional goals (Zambrano et al., 2018).
