There is this notion that there are all these types of GMOs on the market, however, that is completely false. There are only approximately 14 types of GMO products available on the market which are listed below. Many people have claimed that the food market is full of all these different types of GMOs and that a large portion of the foods that we eat have GMOs, but that is completely false. The below products in the infograph are really the only GMO major products that are available on the market for purchase, and the reason that they are GMOs is because they have been modified to fight against certain variabilities that can destroy them such as avoiding a plant virus or avoiding browning. In the infographic below, that is a simple graphic that easily examplains what the major GMO foods are.
These products were not genetically modified for fun. Scientists and farmers determined that genetically modifying these crops would be better in the long-run because it would prevent them from dying out and prevent shortages of them. For example, sweet corn is easily vulnerable to plant diseases, however, after being genetically modified, they have been changed to fight against these diseases. Therefore, while many people claim that there are all these different genetically modified goods that were modified for fun by scientists, that is a complete fallacy.
