One way you’re allowed to use copyright material in the classroom is under the statutory licences (Statutory Text and Artistic Works Licence and Statutory Broadcast Licence), which allow educational institutions to copy certain types of material for educational purposes.
With Week 3's Readings and tasks you’ll learn the ways in which the statutory licences allow you to use a wide array of materials for educational purposes.
Please post (ie copy and paste) your answers in this week's google folder under your group number, by the end of Sunday 13 August 2023 and finish your peer review by the end of Tuesday 15 August 2023.
The majority of TAFE institutes are no longer covered by the Statutory Broadcast Licence. Only WA TAFE institutes are covered by the Statutory Broadcast Licence.
For groups with members from TAFE jurisdictions answering Question 7, below:
If any of your group members are from a WA TAFE (ie Group 2), please provide two answers, one answer where the TAFE has a Statutory Broadcast Licence (ie WA TAFE), and one answer where the TAFE does not (ie from a jurisdiction outside WA - refer to the following link https://smartcopying.edu.au/use-of-television-programs-and-film-by-tafe-institutes-without-a-statutory-broadcast-licence/).
For all other TAFE groups where you do not have someone from a WA TAFE (you are all from jurisdictions who are not covered by the Statutory Broadcast Licence) please answer Question 7 by referring to the following link https://smartcopying.edu.au/use-of-television-programs-and-film-by-tafe-institutes-without-a-statutory-broadcast-licence/.
For this task, if you are from a school, please assume you have a Statutory Broadcast Licence when you answer Question 7, and only refer to this licence.
Please do not refer to the copyright exceptions as these are covered in Week 5.
