Fans at Status Quo-
How can one garner more fans at status quo? First, one must be muti- sectoral, like to be a part of the ML bang bang. Imagine hs and college students, even alumni of all phil universities and colleges etc. between 20-30 in ages are still fanatics of this game; imagine the fans you will obtain if they see you an active part of this wacko. So this is just one sector- one tag in your photo. Think of other sectors with too many members or enthusiasts and push yourself within. More tags in your photo, filling it likely to a 1/4 of tags. Next, Be a Muti- event intersect. Join events and see to it that you are a protagonist somehow and see to it that each time you are in one event they know your presence in other events. This will increase the tags in your photo to one half. Thirdly, Be a friend to all types of people in terms of income, behavior, interests and push yourself in learning those friendly skills to acquire such adaptations, now you have three fourth tags in your photo. And the last, Be yourself and show to them your personal talent in acting even how realistic you are in your actuations or be a church lover and sing famous songs in known places and online media and be a professional fit of a few to many… you can learn new courses like molecular psychiatry and glamourize them. That completes the 4/4 of the tags in your photo. Now where is your face?

05/27/2022- Can the monkey pox be the next smallpox? It is quite clear that it has the capacity of spreading and its phenotypic character seems to push others to the edge. Now there is this tendency of thinking and preparing the correct vaccination kind for this virus. Considering that there is a proliferation of the (newness of the) diseases that have epidemic values then most likely, there must be more advances that must be undertaken to stifle their occurrences. More studies will be devoted to their evolutionary and ecological platforms and their zoonotic abilities, additional new drug discoveries using competent and aggressive molecular designs, and having said it all- the newest are the mRNA vaccines, why not do a thorough analyses and comparative scrutiny of the immune systems of the different organisms- like the bacteria and the archaea, the invertebrates, the plant and insects, etc.... then find the best way of improving the immune system to "kick them off the ground", especially for the humans by incorporating or improving the new knowledge derive from them using molecular and cellular techniques such as the Crispr- Cas etc. and to develop and discover newer molecular and cellular techniques conducive for these goals.
My opinion- It comes in spurts, but I think there is still a need of individual tight precautionary measures especially inside homes after "reckless" social involvements. Spurts were observed in some developed countries and it was not so good. Therefore the Covid 19 is still having its presence.
May 31, 2022- Greetings from some celebrities who are Iskos and Iskas themselves to the freshies of UP. Here is the link. Going back to my previous post about "tags"- You (the freshies) will get happy, exciting and painful, sad tags (in yourself) at UP Diliman but overall it builds you into a much "fiercer" person (in meeting those challenges) ... adding more (points) to your life and finding a "you" among the many wherever you are. And are expected to bring changes/contributions in whatever nooks in the world you belong (the last is a graduation reminder-line that I can remember). Welcome to UPD!!

From a soliloquy in Hamlet, a Shakespeare masterpiece- “To Be or not to Be”
It’s good to do a soliloquy for a while and what do you think UPD peeps want to manifest a soliloquy about… It’s what was finished/immersed upon at UPD. In the Philippines, it is so relevant that what one has finished or started or had immersed like sprinkles of learning, will stay put as is and be accepted like a regular employee or be self- employed. This is true in other countries with their own citizens schooled in their own countries. And of course… it answers what most Americans including migrant workers needing a job the “I need a life” statement especially during financial emergencies. Having started with the abroad scenario- then how would one fare with their degrees? Jobs abroad especially in developed countries may be specific (or sometimes not if you know the basic of computing, etc. as an example) but usually it is directed to the likes of a bachelor’s degree. So if one has finished degrees much higher than the undergrad., how will one do it? Keep the graduate degrees at bay and apply stating that you just finished a bachelor’s so you’ll get accepted? But the advantage there is you are more skilled because of your further studies (rather than work experiences, probably), gain plaudits and later a promotion but not that of a "shooting star" type (having a BS alone). Therefore, one cradles a “To be or not to be” soliloquy. This scenario happens and applicable to so many just change UPD and related elements.
*Considering that the meaning is not that of Hamlet's, it could also be a tutubi. Just open your eyes to the wonderful morph of this insect, elegant and balanced (a sign that one needs to balance his/her thoughts with his/her life). And how awesome is its life cycle. Enjoy exploring them and experience the natural amity to be with the tutubi (usually near the ponds) at UPD [Referring to the real insect not the human counterpart, if there is any].
*Remembering my late Dad when I was exploring a part of the world. It sounds like this: "When in Rome[Italy]. Be a Roman." That holds true if you live in any country for long. Yes that was the time when Rome was "Visaless". What happened that Rome requires a visa for Flipinos? What did you do? Just a tease. The above quote applies even "within" the UPD (or parang malayo or a bit similar nevertheless...). Just change Rome to UPD. One of those usual "menu" pick among students who are late comers (in enrolment probably or just out of luck) is the PreRog. I am sharing a once upon- a- time video online about this. And the fun of recalling and reviewing it. Pick your choice among those young talents with their cute smiles, ngayon old na ba and still appealing? Here is a quite related link to Pre Rog: Link.
To all the Freshies, Shiftees , Retakers, Bystanders etc., I just encountered a student’s video that mentions that free tuition is limited to the number of years prescribed by your course to finish it (is there a 1 year bonus? am not sure) otherwise you will pay the remaining years. But remember there is also a maximum number of years that you are allowed to be an academic student of UP Dil. Or some courses may have Grade Point Averages after first or second years? and failure to obtain may mean you shifting to another course. This is just a few that I moderately knew. So my advice- Avoid soliloquizing the phrase, “To Be or not To Be” (see above) but soliloquize, the “This is Me” statement. Which means see to it that you comply yearly with what your course needs and be able to advance normally until you finish your degree. If a subject you want to take is closed but you can still have a chance of taking it—then do a prerog.. Do a "soliloquy" of your presentation, and then express it like (but not in all cases there may be other ways, I think) this.
UPCAT Passers versus UPCA passers... UPCA passers like to burst their ego into peacock- swirling feathers because they haven't been slapped with that difficult exam known as the T. Your difficulties and pain have not been started yet just wait . #startitinyourface
One's Comment: An evaluative puke test will be given to them (for equality sake), a little advanced version of T with a little bit of GRE General for the Generalist, [for they are all this type after their second year?] and to see if who drops out obligingly from the Univ.

Recently, I mentioned about Molecular Psychiatry though I really haven't seen a summary of this but you can just glamourize the term (as if you know!). Now, I think I have some answers for the Molecules of Love and I think Hate, too for it seems that the hypothalamic hormones are the same for both? I just roved my eyes in this H.U. article written by her Grad student and it seems like a fried rice mix (had it for breakfast)... masyadong magulo until probably get a seat and make a specific outline and draw lines and crisscross it and there it is. This is what happens, when you devote a 3 second hidden disturbance (by a heave of breath or swallowing) about it while presenting a paper in a huge international conference of scholars. Because people think they are cute so there is always the acceptance that one is falling in love even in dream. But the Brain can shut it off. Pero mahirap naman kun walang love.. Just like what one celebrity said about being a UP student is to "experiment" on anything perhaps.. but I haven't seen one hugging a slim Acacia or a Mahogany tree for the sake of love. That's good nan diyan sya palagi hindi nawawala. hehehe Here is the link. Interesting topic in this article: "In short, love makes us dumb." And interpret it (also molecularly) as you wish.
Ginger/ly speaking…
Pandemic situation at status quo and the wish to travel especially abroad: One would like to go to this place and would list down the activities one has to undertake… and later will just cast it off. There is still an alarming apprehension among us. A. Solomon, ended his 2021 NYT article titled “Can Travel Be Fun Again?”(refers likely to the US pandemic rules on travel at that time) which is maybe applicable at present to some {places}, with this statement: “A year ago, many of us feared to venture farther than the grocery store; now we are given back a whole planet to explore, however gingerly.” Gingerly means “showing great care or caution”. Others are still completely apprehensive in travelling even locally and would rather stay put. Speaking of Gingerly, this reminds me of the Ginger. This plant is the source of a nice drink derived from its rhizome, medicinal to many, and is called as taho drink in Ilonggo but in Manila, taho is a tofu drink and is best drunk during rainy days. And their ginger drink there is salabat. I really don’t know what the vendors sell when they say taho in Iloilo. And the rains are not that much for the taho of Manila to be enjoyed.
FB posts may only have 2 interpretations- Like or Not.. For instance if one wails about his/her job, the audience may like it because of pity but others may not like it because of incompetence- meaning not able to work under pressure which is the first question for our budding applicants if they wish to work in progressive commercial establishments. Your post may not be of a win- win situation.

My Opinion-
ISMCBBPR gave two Molecules of the Year awards concerning findings that may help HIV/AIDS patients at that time. They are the anti-SAG 421-433 catalytic IgA* and the 4E10. They are considered promising and may directly (may be developed as a “drug molecule” or would be contributory for the natural adaptation of human immune system for HIV to take it slow [which is “threshed out” with the Influenza pandemic]) or indirectly (as a tool to base for further studies). The former had produced a stigma for a few to go campaigning for it for more monies so as to push through with the findings [I can still see the energy and the interest at that time as shown in social media]. The more you think for its progress, the more money was needed. At that time AZT, was available in U.S. laboratories as an emergency drug whenever, as an e.g., one was accidentally injected with a patient’s blood specimen (specimen was in a syringe with needle still attached) and HIV/AIDs cases were rampant. Starting with AZT, additional HIV drugs were made which means that basically the HIV life cycle was outlined clearly. And what form were they? Enzymes? I am thinking of having these enzymes “modified” so they could act stronger and for those DNA bulwarks, etc. that need to be cleaved without a specific enzyme then why not “build one”. Or are there other molecules that seem to “lace” these enzymes into function (such as in epigenes). It is a must to dig more about them. Look at what new knowledge prions have brought! In my Biochem class, proteins versus fats…, proteins may be superior because of enzymes; fat synthesis and catalysis need enzymes so they could be cell utilizable. So? It is common, the astounding multifunctional protein [types] and more cellular and molecular analyses into each function then the more findings for contribution to human health in a quick manner. In this kind of syndrome without a vaccine, then medicines are needed; molecular medicines with aggressive superior biochemical interactions that could effectively push through cellularly in spite of the facts. Regarding Covid 19 virus, vaccines could be directed against them but Medicines, though not specific, are relevant such as those mentioned in my previous pages (against CS). Will they be nominated for the Molecule of the Year? Seems right. So, It is hoped that once these types of bugs hit us (new ones especially)… we have these forms to take care of human health against them and much better, if its applicability is universal or broader. And/or Newer ways nailed effectively and solidly by a novel set of protocols.

Memoir- When our research group was walking inside the university health science campus, one of my colleagues pointed to me a small four story building? and asked," Do you want to work there? That's the building exclusively for HIV (patients){and likely for Research}". I remained with the group. This was during the HIV was starting to take its toll... Then we have this Covid 19 pandemic I really don't know how was it with them... probably just like how they dealt with the former.
It is difficult just to efface or exterminate these bugs because of, firstly, their ability to mutate. So the medicines (including the vaccines) could be of help probably + the healthy immune system or just the latter. So be wise how to deal with one's health.
Memoir (On travels)- While I was in Paris, using a metro train map, I knew where to alight consider the location of my hotel. What I did was memorize the stations I'd pass by and the station I would disembarked. It was perfect. But, one more thing that I had written was the name of the street that I needed to pass so I could reach my hotel. Therefore which was it... I was outside of this metro station... I did not know if I needed to go left or right. So I decided to go left... I passed several streets intersecting the highway that I was walking upon, but the street name was nowhere to be found. Then I got lost. I asked a commuter if where was the location of this metro station where I previously disembarked and she directed me how to go there. I walked and arrived exactly at the outside of this train station and I decided to go right this time. After passing the adjacent street, the next one was the street that I needed to pass in order to reach my hotel. This is what Paris is if you want to explore by yourself especially if you take the metro. There was one instance, that I needed to be in the opposite side to take the metro in a station but I was lucky there was a small antiquated passageway (just imagine the "Cask of Amontillado" setting) that I could use.

My opinion: Fans and the beat of the heart
Pinoys are very much attracted to a true love team, especially if both are strikingly good looking. During my time, they liked the movie, I meant the story and the beautiful protagonists and this was moved to its peak if they broke or a heart- felt climax was triggered. The song mattered but I think, they were mostly in love with the guy or the girl in the movie. That’s why they drew initials of them in tables during the Physics class. So, it’s the movie with their crush in it, that earns the money. But nowadays, they liked the music sang by a broken hearted, let us say in a true to love relationship or was it just acting. Because of this, the people concerned are earning money by listening to their sad songs. Parang “nag pa pasyon ng sawi sa publico.” Also when the team is a fan and they broke up or they become famous in particular interactive media [new discovery daw], they eventually are being scouted online but I do not know if they spent money in following this up [unless they opt for "membership" fees in their personal media] because usually the news items are just for free. Third parties take advantage of them by advertising their goods. So they earn this way, too. But I do not think these two [above] aggressively happened during my time. While the past and the present situations, share a common ground when it comes to good movies with suitable love songs and mostly young good- looking actors and actresses and the movies of these types earn the monies. There is no such thing as an obsessive type of loving or liking that occurs here (unlike the ones mentioned above). It just fires one’s satisfaction to a good sleep afterwards.
Memoir- Embrace the Filipino Culture and the Arts
My UPD friend, M had a schedule of outdoor Filipino “mini shows” and invited me to one. I think this was opposite the Intramuros? in a vast grassland, shaded by towering bulky trees, separated by a not so busy concrete road. They were musicians about ten? seated in this grassland wearing their kamisa chinos with black pants and red scarves and I remembered a few had musical instruments with them. We were a part of a very few onlookers, no cordons or guards and we were just standing and listening to them singing the Filipino songs while strumming the guitar, etc. The blend of their voices was worthwhile to make you stay till it was done. The Filipino within you exudes. I really do not know if there are still such as this that are happening nowadays. Be a part, even as an audience.
The Fil- Chinese Culture in Film
I just finished watching the film as a whole, Mano Po 2 (it's an all star cast) for me to know a bit of the Fil- Chinese culture. And it was just amazing. I also received ambient invitations from Chinese academicians regarding attendance to wetland conferences {please visit my former pages to know about these} and some of them, were written in Chinese characters. To include Chinese roles in fictitious novels, one must have a grasp of their culture. A big assignment. The movie was directed by Erik Matti... surname seems familiar, having Savillos with a Matti- Araneta line of descent. There are also Savillos in The Celestino- Zapico Martinez Clan.
June is symbolized as an LGBT month in the Phil. and I think the climax of activities will be on June 25, 2022. The story in this video is "embedded" in a song that was filmed at UPD (The carillon and the national science complex, at the latter part, signify it). But I think the winning composer of this song comes from PUP and I was surprised that the actress here is my co- notable alumni from UPV (Google source).. no other than M. Sarrosa. Theoretical Biology is a respected science, with an identifiable career (as a Theoretical biologist) in developed countries. About the "Impermanence of Sexual Phenotypes"@. Please see below a perspective. @The intention to do theoretical research about this was brought about by the absence [no drive in the scientific community] of scientific publications regarding this, [e.g. gene scouting and identity {as an an effort}, molecular behavior, etc.], years before its publication of 2010. Note : My paper on "Impermanence of Sexual Phenotypes" came out in 2010 published in BiologyBrowser of Thomson Reuters. I hope this will serve as a core in understanding this topic to avoid retracting of scientific publications in the future.

Seems a New Song- This does not apply to me or to others especially fictitious writers, people "sucked" into cinematic arts- always changing the "decors to fit" the audiences in terms of anything they call arts (acts, cinematography,- just name it). Therefore we listen to the loftiness of these songs to transport our minds for more imaginative stories suitable for the gist or the next chapter of our stories. Here we have our very own UPD alumnus, O. Alcasid. I saw him just a few feet away. I think in Sydney or Melbourne (as retold in my FamousFix) and our eyes caught each other... probably at that time I had biographic photos online identifying myself a UPD. Here is the youtube link. And for those who are hit, I think you are "old" to know the best consequences for you; you're "old" enough even to partake into it.
Memoir- A long- distance flying- high in going to another country, is an emotional soul lifter. You feel free from the rains, literally and metaphorically, once you are up there in a smooth trip.. meaning you feel at ease (with the earphone music, meals and snacks) in spite of some petite disturbances. I remembered that when I took a foreign airline for a long trip, I had this approach when meals were served. The stewardess spoke english that was quite difficult to understand. Therefore I was just keen in listening to the 3 essentials... meat, pork and chicken. Then I would just inform her kindly that I chose the third [because it's the chicken]. And in another trip bounded for Europe, I was given a semi- opened big size "paper- container" with noodles in hot water and chopsticks but I did not know how to use it. I just held on it and nothing happened. Is this the best thing that you have to do for your customers? Common sense please.
On Covid 19 Reinfections- I tried to look for a compilation of data regarding the medical consequences of reinfection. But as of now, what I saw are just opinions or probably findings with limited cases. Therefore, I think, this info may be useful to impart to everyone how important is self protection, like the wearing of masks, proper ventilation in establishments and social distancing among others. Handled by experts including a National Artist, great singers and dancers as well as trainers. Find time to see the video and know them. Always Find the right mood:
In songs or sayings there are lyrics, quotes, or stanzas that imply sadness or out of luck situations- Straighten it out by finding substitutes that are positives- An example is the Rain in a song--- it’s like the rain and a certain day that makes one lonely or pushes one to his/her nadir. Find something exciting if it’s raining—prepare something hot or cold depending in how you celebrate it or start doing your assignments while experiencing the cooler weather or write a new love story or bathe in the rain… if you think the rain drops do not have the pollutants. Pre-occupation 101- As of this moment, everyone, I think, is still in the mental smog because of the pandemic especially that right now a certain Omicron sub variant BA.5 being the most dominant may have frightening consequences. Besides this, there are other situations, common occurrences (well adjustable?), anthropogenic made, while others are "new seed sprouts", seem obligatory or as a result of flattery but don't you think it eats also minutes of someone's time to pre occupy [unimportantly?]. Why not introduce one that is human friendly? That is what everyone needs.

When one reads comments in FB, by any one who may be from anywhere or was cocooned from any college, used this term in their posts, or even presenters or lecturers, or emphasizers or in job opportunities highlights. Does this have a feminine or masculine grip.. as how it sounds? Do they really know what it means and use it properly? I decided to scout for alternative words for this as well as anything to do with it. Here is the link.
Happy Outlook for Retirees 101- Body pains are usually common. It could be due to lack of potassium or more of it?, the uric acid in excess or the poor nerves that need to be sustained by the Vitamin Bs. But there are still other sort of body pains (kidney stones, infections, etc.).. consult your MD and subject yourself to lab tests. Another pain, that may not be advisable is the emotional one for falling in love (single retirees especially) with a Young Adult. Young ones are good "magicians." You end up investing both the abstract and the reality within you in exchange for another pain. Therefore, find a PA or a carer {much better term than a caregiver} of any type or class or kind (what's the opposite of au pair- for this specializes in child care how about for the old?) that could help you domestically but never ever fall in love especially if younger.
Happy Knowledge for Retirees 101- Dreams- Most of us, don't know about the actual situations when we are dreaming. From these 2 articles, I only knew that even, when we are sleeping the brain (some parts of it?) is working hard. And some phenomena of acting out- real world- actions such as talking, walking, laughing or even crying in a sleep, etc. can happen.

07/19/2022- I wasn't dreaming but I was thinking regarding the epigenetic markers that this pandemic (Covid 19) will bring about to future babies. The similarities of the past and their differences . And how these pre and post translational apparatuses will work and put their phenotypic stamps upon. This has to be observed scientifically because just like autism, it may sprout out that fast affecting a consistent number and I was also asking if this was due to epigenetics (Here is a link for this). Then probably the phenotypes of these future babies have to be studied in detail for epigenetic characteristics (bad ones especially) that could be concluded.

Exciting Memoir- In my first page, I mentioned about a "Milestone in an Island" (Explore my first page). And this was an official trip concerning wildlife management and the light aircrafts mentioned were courtesy of the Consunji (Most are UPD alumni?). The island is so nice and organized with a very good staff. About flying, where will I go next internationally?
-Remembering my UP Diliman Days- The only undergrad classmate (in the subject Algae, Fungi and Lichens, a prerequisite of mine to Advanced Mycology) that I could say, an acquaintance, was a certain Consunji (hope I'm remembering right?). He said he was from Mindanao. One time, he called my attention while he was sitting in a bench fronting a board where the names of the UPCAT passers were displayed. Just saying hi, if you remember, and hoping, all is well!

My Opinion- I read about an article dated July 20, 2022, depicting the query by a body representative why there is grade hyperinflation at UPD ( I think this is an ongoing research.. who knows-- what are the factors, including behavior, genius approach to hard subjects both oral and written?, etc.). And there is also some sort of a comparison in the intellectual potentials (I think this is applicable whether with honors or not) with graduates from the best universities in the USA. Their graduates there are well built- inside because they can avail of wide range of resources and their researches are funded by thousands or millions of dollars [that's why they could "dig deeper even to the most impossible roots"] through their scholarly mentors. Otherwise, a theoretical summa or even a non- latinized one but could display an admirable excellent theoretical expulsions may grab a bit. But this still needs a lot of training/grounds (independent or tutored) be granted by the kind taker (Please read my previous posts regarding this matter. Go to my former pages, scroll and read). That's why, it is stated in the article that the B's of US schools could even outsmart. Furthermore, there is a competition among graduates, too (especially in the local setting) considering there are a lot of them. So not all, may be able to realize the single goal as expected because of the honor, thus I would suggest aim for a lot of stars as long as it pays good.

It is exciting to see (thru official video) that during the commencement exercises of the UPV, all the employees, who are alumni of the University of the Philippines wore the SABLAY regardless what universities they furthered their studies, abroad or locally. Solid and taga U.P. !!
Congratulations to all the graduates but I just have one thing to say-- Bakit may roong na nag graduate ngunit walang sablay--- ito ba ay a personification of degree hyper deflation... (currently there was this issue of grade hyper inflation)- In other words the degree was less than that of a UP standard???
In my previous post (Pls. see former page), I was surprised that the grade equivalence of Dep Ed students were raised in such a way that a 70% is not a failing grade which was supposed to be a failure. Now it is only these times that I knew that there is grade inflation not only at UP but also in schools abroad. As I go through the short summaries, the UC system seems to be strict when it comes to grade inflation. So as of now it is a matter of knowing, why and what are the criteria (regarding hyper grade/grade inflation)? And how the employers, the academic societies, graduate schools, national (grade/transcript) evaluation agencies [popular in the US] and the outstanding visa categories will look into this?
Academic Short cuts and how to deal with them in classroom work-
This started with the calculator- now in some examinations using computations, actual work without the calculator are being implemented. Secondly, there is such thing as the grammarly. How correct is this? This must not be made accessible to students enrolled in english subjects or any subject where examinations deal with english essay. Thirdly, as I just heated water from this plastic heater for my tea.. I was asking what makes it so... and it seems that we are already bombarded by molecular/biotechnological shortcuts by things called kits. How will you grade a student who used the kit wherein the products are excellent... pure DNA, correct DNA aliquot, etc.. but doesn't know the detailed mechanisms behind it. Saan ang chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology knowledge (with emphasis to current publications), equations, techniques, further theories for advancement of knowledge and methodologies.... eh wala.. If the scholarly? mentor asks about the status of the work.. eh yan sa kit ang sagot. There are still a lot of shortcuts and hoping you need to discover more for these will just fuel the laziness within everyone. In fact sa plastic water heater- zero ako dyan. Excuse naman ako kasi indi ko naman field. I hope this will shed light so as to find the correct gauge for a summa.

Opinions- (on inflations and deflations of academic stands)
On the internet, I read about K- 12 graduates that there were a lot of them with a grade of 4.0 where, in previous graduations these types of students were individually announced in public of their 4.0 GPAs while they mounted the stage- this time because of their sheer numbers there was no more announcement and in addition, because their GPAs do not reflect their actual knowledge the parents become worrisome and tutorials were suggested probably in most subjects. Additional expense? I think there is a need for more evaluation strategies such as independent examinations that will be given (such as in the movie "Dark Matter" ). Examiners will give these examinations (after initial screening with online interviews) in the embassies without leakages and who makes it to the top wins the scholarship and get the jobs.. for the latter this could be done in the universities or scientific institutions abroad who wants to hire them- I was informed previously about this retired immigrant (70's?) who topped the mathematical exam and was hired for this academic? position. Examinations of these types are a must... due to this hyper inflations not only in grades, etc. as a result in hyper deflations, in degrees or even in local board examinations... who knows? I read last time that CBEST will be removed because of the lack of teachers with what is happening right now (these types of inflations and deflations), the CBEST must still be used as a gauge for the best teacher- mentors for the precious American students. I passed the CBEST. GREs , GMATs and other similar exams and State Board examinations for the professionals will still be put in place... whether summas or not, they will be given equal chances to prove their abilities (Written and Oral(?). I read a long time ago of the availability of 4 university scholarships in one of the UC and 3 of these went to the Chinese but I don't know who grabbed the remaining slot. In my previous university trainings/work, a number of them are Research Associates in medically related researches. This serves as an eye opener for what is currently happening and to prove one's real worth.

with the Blue Zones, where a small population in these areas of the world could lengthen their old age (90's? or more for example) probably without serious diseases (of course, then if there is then how can it be?). And one of the indices is the telomere length. Thus, longer telomeres signify healthy chromosomes and physiologically, or much better organismically speaking it sculpture and power humans to be progressively youthful and sick- free. And here comes someone engulfing me with talks about the economy. With a gasp, I quickly thought, how about if the telomere is the economy?
I think (overused? here)-
CRISPR (pronounced as Crisper)- This is a method of gene editing and any organism subjected to this technology is a GMO, whether the gene may come from a different or same species. One said if it is of the same species probably a different strain, it could not be labeled as GMO. But this still raises a question. We are even having problems with invasive species and introducing a live GMO with its products (e.g. fruits, other edible tissues and seeds or gametes) for commercial consumption and used for reproductive propagation as a germline are something to be thought about. What will the next generation be? Horrible kinds of invasive species? I think epigenetics may have a small role here but actual modified genes crossings could assert the unwelcome phenotypes. How about in curing diseases? CRISPR is considered to be a form of gene therapy just like the transposons. Here are updates, current plans as well as mice work with this technique involving human diseases. Here is the link. I think the beneficial progress (how long? how efficient?) of this technology has to be examined meticulously. Bioethically, speaking if this is for the benefit of the patient alone without other dangerous physiological effects in the long run that will affect him/her, then I think it is ok. Clinical trials anyone? But in case of human embryo editing, I think there will be more questions that need to be asked and the Bioethic experts have to frequently intervene. In all these GMO processes (deleting a badly mutated essential gene needs a replacement otherwise, if just a delete without an insert, then it is not a GMO [considering that there is a change in the genetic make up then I think, still it is?], bioethicists participations in these types of proposals/experiments are urgently important. Last thoughts> An elephant that needs a mammoth genetic make over to combat climate change (Search online).

CFS (Still CFS for me)
Revisiting the mysterious disease or a complex of diseases?, known as The Chronic fatigue syndrome after 30 years. And to find out that until know it is as mysterious as ever. I knew that it harbors additional names- the most current is the Systemic exertion intolerance disease, or SEID. It is known as M.E. (Myalgic encephalomyelitis) in the U.K. and CFS (as above) in the US. And in online discussion, it combines the latter two for nomenclature purposes probably, for the causative agents and factors are far from secured pin pointing. Therefore as I initially reviewed the extent of researches for this mysterious illness, I do not think for a fast track result on this because funding is "shorter than the normal telomeres" (pls see above about telomeres) and if there is a failure to bring the correct causes using bits of monies, no ones to blame. But it is exciting to follow what these researchers worldwide are doing and their results. Kudos to all for doing experimental works on this. In fact, there is even one case, that the Covid 19 exposure led to this illness [Updates especially results of research undertakings will be discussed soon].

Memoirs :Job Hunting, Interviewing during our time [late 1980s)- I could boldly say that during our time, if you are a UP grad, your chances of getting a job were greater especially if you are completing or having a graduate course. These jobs are usually printed in newspapers (no internet) or the information about it was from classmates or colleagues at UPDiliman. One time, after I was interviewed in the country's famous ice cream maker, the interviewer (from their HR), informed me to go to a certain dept. at UP Diliman and get a list of first top ten achievers of the graduating students and to bring it back to her which I did. I hope it is the same as before. But having more than 10 summas in one dept.., then it has to be a fierce competition by "decimal points." Another thing is the etiquette and the way you look during interviews. Masa kasi ako at UP pa... so I was just expecting na during interview, who cares if what you were and walang hand shake* prior to and after interview. Kwentuhan lang tayo. But no...Hey guys, expect these etiquettes when your HR** initiates the formalities. Especially if your interview is in establishments in Makati, etc. Mas grabe pa sa America. When a new Pinoy-American came for an interview, naka Amerikana*** pa... See I really donot know how will you "dress" yourself nowadays that you have graduated and meet your interviewers. Just decorate yourself the "proper way" not too much or not too ordinary cguro at right english ha... o tagalog puede? o kinaray a abi. I donot know how is it today. Good Luck sa yo lahat!

An Opinion: To All Retirees....Would be nice if you have a veggies and fruit counter in your kitchen. In the process, you will know about each of these veggies and see if it contributes to your prevailing sickness (e.g such as those with oxalates for kidney stones, uric acid rich ones, etc.) wherein you have to eat to a minimum or no longer. But most of the veggies are good for the health. Therefore see to it that they are free of insecticides, pesticides, etc. and are products of organic/backyard farming. Wash the veggies and fruits very well before using/consumption. For recipes, take a peek in youtubes for what the BlueZone people (please see above) are eating and probably make your own one.
For instance- The okra above is rich in oxalates, so eliminate kun my kidney stones ka or eat to a minimum. So this is just a matter of adding and eliminating while you keep on storing veggies and fruits in your counter.

In my Amidst Old Los Angeles FB which is typically private, I posted on Nov. 02, 2020, a summary of this movie based in the Spanish version- [at that time, I was finishing the story for the Amidst Old Los Angeles, my next novel/script] as stated:
“The 3MSC ended in tragedy could be a double one for H losing B, and his best friend P. And he finally decided (motorcycle ride at its end) to leave for London where he could find a new job. Trying to analyze this story of F. Moccia, H as well as B want to experience love at its highest state, but H wants his own spirited life be a part of it while B wants a love through the eyes of her upbringing. H prided his style with his physique, looks and violence. In such a way, that he believes he could cajole the girls to himself. But later when things are becoming in order, it is difficult to disentangle the emotions which happened to H. B tried to do her best in understanding (the motorcycle race mania etc.) even nurturing him in times of problems (H's family) but his "change" never happened (I am pondering about this change thing. Probably more patience for B. H is one of a kind. What do you think our gorgeous Latinas and non Latinas?). I said the climax was when H was violent at the death scene of Pollo but slapping B afterward may have taken its toll. We writers always look for a climax in our stories for that's the most important emotional part of the film. One of a kind love story. Kudos to the screenwriter(s). Now I am back to Los Angeles. 08/10/2022- Climate/Weather Observation-
During my early years as far as I can remember, there is an Ilonggo term for the rainy situation as part of the weather system: It's called Uran nga nagadalagan dalagan (running rain). I also observed this in Africa. But right now here, there is no common thing as such. If there is, it is rare or probably, if it is a real storm. This phenomenon is marked by quite strong winds that could blow the black clouds from a vicinity to a nearby one: Transferring the black clouds from a place where rain was produced and then stopped, to its adjoining place where these transferred black clouds caused a new set of rains. But currently, what I observed, is that a torrential rain occurs in a place (causing continuous downpour- flooding the place unexpectedly), but a kilometer or two away, in the adjoining place, it remains dry, thus absence of rain. Are there any scientific papers on this?

-I just read that Yoshinoya will soon open additional branches in the country. Why am I interested in this? Because on 7th street, Downtown, Los Angeles, there is a Yoshinoya (as far as I can remember) that I had my snacks twice or more? when I walked (hungrily) through this street; this street is a very important component, in my novel, "Amidst Old Los Angeles."

I have observed that in a UP system, Sablay is being used in photos or the like in new appointees, etc., in spite that they finished their higher degrees abroad. This is one way of identifying (automatically) the prestige of the school and likewise, the alumni, and this feat serves as an intelligent avenue for the alumni to further build more progresses in his/her career. It also signifies love for the UP and for open willingness to serve the People being the true Iskolar ng Bayan.

Sleuthing for UP alumni- Whenever a new personality is being featured or talked about, the first thing that one will do is to look for his/her educational background online. If there is nothing listed, then, not so much of interest. If it is of UP, then it's a swell. Like the 5 economic advisers, all are UP alumni. Likewise, also the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. UPD has a new baseball field and this was realized through the help of UP alumni and others (Search online). "Field of Dreams" was mentioned but I only know a little bit about this movie, only that I remembered that according to my Univ. Prof. / Supervisor, K. Costner lives in his neighborhood. The rest I can no longer recall.

In my previous post, there was this antibody that was obtained from the person who survived SARS virus, two decades ago but could cross react with the coronavirus of Covid 19 (please see my former page). In the same institution (Scripps) where the latter was discovered, they also were able to produce antibodies that could target a conserved region in the spike protein, thus, the possibility of making vaccines for all Covid strains. Stop the Bureaucracy of Scholarships and Participation in International Competitions-
Let the individual find its own path towards success not be interviewed by unqualified people in terms of degrees and alma mater, with no veritable experience as well as no publications that are highly accredited and intervened by agencies staffed by people who do not even know the science or the arts, the applicant wants. Let the individual apply for it directly abroad [not only choice of professors but choice of schools, too, like ivy league rather than to follow suit which are likely unpopular univ. abroad like in the U.S.A. and the returning scholar does not have always the excellence to carry] and if accepted (e.g. higher degrees, trainings. etc. abroad, film competitions, etc. abroad ) then support the individual with additional funds from your agencies if there are and a promotion after a successful feat. In this respect, there will be a variety of many scientists and artists that will be produced not to stick to the in breeding mentality that the non academic panel* has insinuated to be it because that is the only knowledge they know.

Going back to my interest in Biodiversity evaluation (as written in ISTE) where I stated in former pages that one of its influences is a UK based program and I think, this is known as the Opal. I remembered I knew about this because it was one of the articles written with mine in Isebindia. This seems a good scientific hobby because it may be just around someone's corner. Whether nearby or far in the mountains, one could dedicate one's attention in finding a new species. Like the late Filipino (UPLB alumnus) {Search online} who devoted his time in looking for new species of animals and was able to find a new Genus (species) named after him (2022). In fact, his biographical background was written quite well especially his collaboration with an int'l scientist which led him to further his studies in his (int'l scientist) lab., I suppose (The process is reflective of what I wrote above). His work(s) was also facilitated by UPLB and UPMin scientists.

Memoirs with the RTD Bus (Ended its operation in early 90's)
What I can say, it has a lot of paper schedules available to anyone wherever and whenever you go in Greater Los Angeles Area. It also helped me to go to places for my writing (philosophical component by mixing and meeting with the cosmopolitan crowd, etc.). The last trip of about 11 PM (Dim/Dark outside) that I rarely took, played this song: quite a usual one for this last trip. One time, when I was in the middle of downtown L. A., at about 8 A.M., the RTD Bus I rode, played this lively tune. All one has to do is smile while remembering. Stay safe!

Leveled Landscape
For retirees and for about to retire, there are some philosophical landmarks here that would help one who is in this stage of his/her life. Get a bond and a pencil and write down the important advises or comprehend them directly. I think this is an answer to stresses and how to get rid of them. She emphasized a leveled landscape (in life) by controlling oneself not to shoot upwards at one moment and be at the lowest, the next moment. Be conscious. Be timid. Be careful. Be active. Investing Emotions- Usually this is anyone's problem especially, if it involves another person or thing (money for instance). In this article, it is emphasized that there must be boundaries in a love relationship. Quite smart isn't it? How about, as a defensive move ahead, why not established a 50-50 boundary line of being pathetic (representing half) and being apathetic (the remaining half) to your loved one. At least, if he/she leaves, you can emotionally adjust oneself and say, I can manage because I have that boundary line. But not necessarily feign the feelings while you are still on. But will the partner know about this [boundary line] or you need to keep it to yourself? Too aghast? Here is the link. I am not endorsing any marital psychological assistance here or similar stuff.

Two thick books I bought years ago at the California Institute of Technology* Bookstore, Pasadena, California. Update on Vaccines. I had my second booster shot (Pfizer) -(Sept. 2022) [Please see above posts] but in my vaccine card for this that was given, there is still a blank space below it for future vaccine booster. Is this another similar booster shot or for specific omicron variant? I heard it will be given 6 mos? after the second booster? I am just imagining my immune system to be a "well built fire-wall". Geriatrics care- I just finished drinking this expensive 250 ml liquid drink in can which I believe is a familiar nutritious? drink for the old. And it depends if you like the taste or not. This is not free for geriatrics in third world countries but in the USA, a box of that containing 50 or more? is hurled (hinahagis) to a doorstep of an aging US citizen.. ang rami...Umagang umaga pa o early night time may roong na nag ba bump (ing sound) sa doorstep o minsan sa bottom side ng door. Free pa. I hope third world countries would also look into this besides cash as well as home care phlebotomists, etc. Free din. In case, the aging US citizen missed his doctor's appointment, the MD would send his transport to pick him up. Fil-US knows about this.

Backyard Cultures- In any country I've been to, I always roam my eyes to places that I think I could sit outdoors and feel the wonderful vistas of a place but there are people, that may be having their own statuses in life that may cause these distractions. But these places with comfortable seats overlooking the oceans, or niche in wonderful streets or parks invite comfort but because of this, I really don't know if how can one mentally say the first line of Emerson's Rhodora without creating an ad lib from other thoughts generated. Liz Gilbert’s “Eat, Love and Pray” is a story of her personal enlightenment, a wonderful book to read and a great movie. I think the most interesting part there is, is her immersion or in her submerging into the practices of the Hindu religion or Hinduism. Before, we unravel the chapters of her book living a Hindu life in India (Book 2- Chapters 32 to 72) for weeks, It would be nice, to learn and compare the religions, Buddhism and Hinduism (Just search online what those religious terminologies mean). ON the Welcome Assembly of the UP Diliman 2022 Freshies Video- Wow Exciting.. From famous welcome remarks, I learned that about a hundred thousand applicants only 11,000 thousands made it. In 2007, I wrote about the Defense of Molecular Sociology and Philosophy (See first page). If you have to base it in questions alone without obliging the persons of interest to undergo particular "tests*" to prove their full honesty, phenotypically (referring to accuracy of genes expressed), then such results may not be the best answer. Anyone can scribble anything they wish attentively or not. For it to have an unquestionable status, it must fit into an equation.
*series of psychiatric, psychological or behavioral test; genetic analyses and gene scouting, immersion with overwhelming result at status quo, and other cathartic or purging tests that are harmless but scientific.

Where to during these unexpected weathers? Due to climate change (if it is too much?) or just the usual weather pattern. In one western county, I experienced the absence of rain (rains come in wintry December for sure this is the usual so expect to wear boots), only a single brown out and later situations have made some turns due to these natural changes. A tornado was seen in the oceanic area but just dissipated. The unexpected becomes the expected. And how to manage these changes especially if it leaves a "future regular pattern mark." Preparation is a big "must" from floods, winds, and etc. as brought about by these surprising events. The UP grounds, residences, roads, and your usual routes: are they safe to travel?, one's health, so on and so forth. See to it that there are preparations for the unexpected. Everyone needs an undisturbed space if ever.

Waking up to some memories with Research Chums in a US Univ. #1 With his nice car (Alfa Romeo?- oh not that’s our (a she) PI’s car), he was a regular gym user in early morning, fixed himself there, bought some easy to bite food in a deli and proceeded to the univ. lab for work. When the phone rang, it could be his gf in the East coast. # 2 There was this Asian girl, not a Filipina [co-RA], who told research peeps around that she liked me. But a co RA liked her seriously. Then, later we ended drinking beer (bunch of Corona) without a hint of anything related to her. I had no idea what happened. #3 The secretary of our PI in a different univ lab had a slim MBnz and her body was as slim as everyone’s choice. Unforgettable moment, when she drove me to a highly elevated (steep one) passageway at the LAC- USC county hosp*.. was it a mini road from a heli pad, an emergency route or a short cut? Not sure. To UP grad who’ll be studying in THE US or be a part of research there, enjoy being with them.. they are just all the beautiful people to be with.

Let's talk about nothing... the Ph.D. in Botany no longer exists at Dil, there is no such thing as w in Edelweiss when you sing or say it, there is no such thing as this in the Phil. per SN. ?? I am thinking instead of that wild composite of bright yellow that can be found in the lowlands as the E equivalent in the country. But am not sure if it grows in mountains. It is as wild and can grow and propagate on its own. About 1 to 1.3 inches in flower- diameter. The beckoning of sounds such as this may be cozy though the Covid 19 mut are still on and are "post translating" to long covid symptoms (Brain fog huh). Sad? but try to be happy! Here is the link.

English versions of the song as a soundtrack in a movie (this I only knew). This one is used in the movie. And the other version was considered the movie's love theme [instrumental form?]. They have different titles and lyrics but quite sounds similarly. The first one is directed to a youth and a maid... well I think it means the same as youth. And the lyrics are quite straightforward about "beauty" (both sexes) and feelings of love. And how it will metamorphose into something which I think will be replaced with a period. If you are still craving especially for something unrequited, you outnumber yourself with dots like this: . . . . . . (continuously "waiting") but the former song with its lyrics may influence you to drop only one, a period, and continue living happily. (I think the "Cupid" component is in the eyes and somewhere in the brain not the heart).

-Whenever you enter the portals of UPD, imbue yourself with respect- the school whose alumni, who are also your "mentors", are "books" that you learned a lot from them, where "learning" is a thrust to what your present and future lives are, and these are recorded through a memory ad infinitum, like spreading wings of an "eternal library", funneling the information of your expertise: could be read or orally delivered, a "marites" but with a comprehensive sense featuring your "well- loved experiences" and masterpieces. Life is never a black but a white. It starts with your ability to breath. Whenever you see an aging individual in the campus, he or she could be a retired personnel who has some businesses in the school. Respect him or her, for instance by allowing first access to the ikot jeepney ride and in any areas, which you think the retiree that you encounter, needs your attention. Dementia- A very good movie in this aspect is Still Alice . [She forgot important connecting words in her lecture- being a renowned linguistics professor (from Columbia U) world wide. Her scientific analytical research is on "neurons to nouns" which is an exciting molecular platform to know how younger kids learn independently their simple words and how they utilize it]*. Others forgot not their lectures but the indirect or related term in case it is next in the series. After those "exhaustive days" of the virus, though there are still records of its "activities", it will be nice to put some sparkling energies. In addition to the persistent surges of new subvariant strains of the Covid 19 virus, and may be "frightening" if one reads it in press (link) (link2) (link3) (link4) (link5) , there is infomation that there are occurrences of other pathogenic viruses with it. It would be great if intra (I mentioned in my former posts about within the family but this time outside of the family) specific genes for these different kinds of viruses could be established for a single pulsative control.

December 2022. New directive format (english edition)
For those UPD as well as other UP alumni who are working in Africa or had worked or visited the place. "Far up in a tall, strong, giant tamarind tree (Tamarindus indica), a single huge bird roosted, for the night. When the aves blanket the skies in the afternoon twilight on their way home, this was outstandingly observed and the beauty to be it. Alone (as monitored by me) but secured (at the topmost) and permanently has the skill to navigate (equivalent to driving), surrounded by the robustness of food (income) and healthy environment (non polluted) but in spite of some displaced feathers, it continuously kicks off (good health)". What a metaphor! Holiday greetings to all and enjoy!
Veggies anyone- A bundle of this is expensive in a hi class supermart. But in a backyard in an urban setting, this (kangkong, Ipomoea aquatica) has grown (see below). This is a suggestion especially to retirees to have a supply of this in their diet (see above post about other veggies), from time to time. Here is a link about it and it seems fine. Talk to your nutritionist /M.D.

12/27/2022- It's 24 degrees centigrade in Iloilo City (searched in google) at 7:30 am or earlier? As to my sister, this is the ambient temperature in hospitals. Parang nasa aircon na. Comforters are not needed anymore once one is back from the US so not a single in the luggage but look at what's happening or heaters (in the US home- in the CR, living rm and rm- esp. when there is snow).... highfalutin (to have one in the Phil)? Thick blankets can be ok, jackets, sweaters. But as you see these are temporary temperatures for the day and like in the US (L.A.) by noon time the sun will be bright enough to make the room quite hot. I remembered, in the Berlin, FRG research lab., I opened some windows outlining my bench and later the sky turned gray and a little rain but quite strong winds bringing in the cold chill. I needed to close the windows. The wind really has a big role here decreasing the temp (as in todays case) or increasing the temp. when it's hot.

Whenever I think of this Christmas song, I am transported to the late 70's when I checked in at San Francisco Hilton. In the TV set, there was this propaganda of a paid for view program of these young singers. And when we passed this place in the 90's, I saw the reception area of the hotel and it looked the same (as I remembered). And I think with the rooms, too. Visits to Las Vegas, I had never seen a show of a Filipina singer there. She did. I remembered (in one Las Vegas visit), I and a Pinay accountant bound for the Caribbean sat in the Las Vegas airport floor (upper story) and ate our meals. No seats available and we're rushing. I was bound for D.C. We both took the same plane (our names were mentioned while on flight due to gate re assignments upon arrival) from Vancouver and knew each other at Marriott. Memoir
I was back from a very long trip and my last stop over was Hong kong. It was past eleven pm when I arrived in Mnl. With all the hassles, I arrived in a resort type of hotel where there were rooms detached from each other. I looked for the resto but it was closed and when I was inside the room, I had seen and read that McDo was doing a 24 hour job getting orders and bringing them to designated addresses. I was lucky. I was energized before I slept.

Santa Claus ahead of December. When I arrived from the States, I had a long lay over at the airport for Iloilo CT that caters for CP. After some snacks in the upper floor, I went down the first floor and waited. (I think this was my Louisiana- New York/NJ trip). I was full of chocos at that time.
