Scientifically naming  the Viruses

   The viruses  do not follow the scientific name used for living organisms, probably being in the border line between a living and a non living thing. But I think, it would be better if it can also borrow the "extensions" that are being used by present day scientific names. Usually at the end,  a strain or a variety is posted just to show that this organism is too early to become a species of its own.  Of course the viruses are mutating or even hybridizing therefore these mutations have to be identified as new "strains" in fact what is being commonly used is "a  variant of".  It would be nice if the original "species" will be written (as abbreviation) first, followed by the initial of the place where it came out or is this necessary then the mutation from the original, then other representations will be given if there is a mutation within a mutated part or a new mutation has been undertaken in addition to an earlier one. All of these will have a designated place in this string of name for the virus. I think this is much better representation especially for the scientists.  Vowels will also be inserted for a clearer presentation and memorization (e.g. mu7g, which means mutation after the 7th  guanine...). 05/06/2021- The long years for a Pandemic: How to cope up with stress?

Stress is an abc thing-here are the things that one has to arm himself/herself.

a. Think positive- whether a vaccine is available or not this Covid 19 virus is not as "Lethal as the  HIV (that is historically known could outsmart the immune system)" that there is a continuing bout by our Immune System toward Herd Immunity.

b. Feel secure with your PPE or personal protection. Use Face Shields. Are you not aware of the Vietnamese strain that is a hybrid of  two variants and was stated that it spreads faster in the air.  This is not to fear anyone- just make the best of what you can. Wear the masks too as diligently as possible. Avoid crowds, practice social distancing and minimize personal communications. And the anti- viral disinfectants, one must possess one.  Be sure that you enter a home free from the virus so what will you do once you arrived from a place  littered with people.

c. Do a meditation to sway your mind thinking about it or find ways to deviate your attention- see a hilarious movie, virtual talk to friends that could give you sense of laughter,  do a namaste or the like,  pray for more protection from the invincible God, listen to music or do a stationary exercise or learn to cook veggies good for the health, osterize healthy foods/fruits  and eat/engulf  it  with pleasure  and at the end of the day feel refresh. 

d. Always have an assistance.. someone that you can run to or help you in a moment of isolation especially that there are ECQ, MECQs etc . in a glance.  Without an assistance, the heart may pound greater and may cause stress and strokes will mount. What are lessons learned from here- considering that there are people affected  due to these isolations why not the people involved in these instructions will see to it that these people in their communities will have assistance.  

e. Be ready with emergency medicines. Due to stress high blood pressure may exist then have a catapres (my opinion) or etc. Ask your doctor.  Take supplements with Zinc and Vitamins as well as Minerals. Better ask your doctor.  An excess of that may not be very good especially if you have a genetic disease.  As this is a pulmonary based disease, how about if you have flu like symptoms? Do you have medicines ready for this?  Do not forget your maintenance medicines.

05/06/2021~ What's the main difference between the Old pandemic of the Flu and the New pandemic of the Covid 19?

Absence of the prestigiousness of molecular and cellular biology. There may be rudiments of it in the Old Pandemic but not as  "minute by minute" (molecular and cellular) analyses as that of the new pandemic because the advanced techniques  and the brains (the scientists are enthused to do the work due to this technology) allow it.   Therefore, I think the data there (in the old pandemic) are more on statistics rather than in the progress of  evolving strains or  probably there is also some point that this was pointed out but not as meticulously or devotedly done.  But well let us look into the herd immunity for the flu. What is the backbone for this?  At that time were there vaccines, herbal medicines, etc.?  or was it just plain natural immunity?  Due to  lack of technology, people as well as investigators were  doing the best as they could but I think this was more on observations (statistics and epidemiology) plus  a little experimentation. No molecular news from time to time instead news based on mortalities etc.  But at the end Herd Immunity was achieved for the Flu. But for this Covid 19, minute by minute there are molecular news, there are developments of this disease and the virus because of the technologies, the vaccines and the epidemiological data.  And  as we reach the herd immunity status in the far/near future for almost everyone, there,  we will have a detailed story- molecular + statistics (+ epidemiological) about this pandemic.  But I think the molecular and cellular aspect of herd immunity is  more interesting data here. 

How did (Old P.)/do (New P.) the people reacted/react respectively  to this  pandemic news? I would say it is the same ... only that they will also learn the different  terminologies/instructions with the new just like with the old (if they are still alive) but with greater difference. 

On lichens (06/08/2021)

I think a paper  dated March, 2021 is  asserting for a triple symbiotic relationship in lichens. They themselves find this a mystery but for me in case this is not a universal existence it is difficult to say so. Or are there lichens having a tri or more partnerships for a successful obligatory mutual configuration? Hmmm. Other cyanobacteria may be present in the lichens but not as mutualistic partners as stated in past references. Probably commensal.

Now what does a lichenologist do? (for those who want to be)  Is this an addictive job? Yes, it is. In case, I was brought to a place where there are huge old trees sometimes full of barks, I stood in front of it and started staring and examining for lichens.  Tracing it with my finger and imagining what lichen it is based in its form. Then keep  going round in round (around the trunk and reaching the height as far as I could) while putting the finger and the eyes at work.  With a magnifying lens, it is a more professional job. And you know what, I cannot keep track of time anymore.  Well that was when I was young and bubbly. This goes too with the moss experts and probably with people studying myxomycetes but not so much of these are found in tree barks except the powdery brown to black ones, now I remember, the Stemonitis.

Let us go trivia- What mini park in Iloilo City sells pancakes when there is a ferris wheel on it? What a question. Let’s rephrase it to lichens.  What island mini park with robust trees where the first Hyperphyscia adglutinata was found in Iloilo? Of course, this is the Molo Plaza Park. Small, cute but memorable. This lichen species was rare during my time. But much studied in Thailand.  Search online for this lichen with Thailand as  keywords.

06/10/2021 My Opinion - In Preparation for the Future

  In 2001, I published a paper in the Molecular Pathology Techniques in Clinical Virology  (intended for third world countries) (post regarding this is at my former new page, see above and click it open)  and it took such a long time before one of the most important methods was learned by greater number of people especially in third world countries and we call that as the PCR, only when there is this COVID- 19 pandemic. Let us assume that the orientation for Molecular Pathology is continually being boosted therefore in case new methods in the molecular sense come in, our technicians/technologists/scientists will maybe no longer have a hard time in examining those kits and using it with a sense of sensitivity and specificity per result.   It is a matter of brain work plus molecular background.  I remembered my supervisor in a private lab tossed me a new kit .. it was using  the luciferase system (naturally occurring in fireflies) to be used to gauge for bacteria especially in urine samples.  Besides reading the method indicated there, one must also apply his/ her knowledge and I came out with my conclusion (no info about it online as a new product).. ATP is a factor needed and bacteria have it while viruses do not have- then can I say this is ok for bacteria? With ATP the luciferase can work and with the substrate known as luciferin ..  and there one can start the trial of using it and  gauge it whether it is more suitable than the others.  How admirable to use this technique in laboratory  analysis! 

   What are the most current problems in today's pandemic?  The vaccine expiration is one.  Two materials are in it.. The protein as an antigen and the easy to degrade mRNA.  So what degrades these? Besides the Proteases and the RNAses, respectively, could the environment such as temperature may be one of the reasons?  Can these be frozen and  thawed as viable ones?  I am also thinking of arming the mRNA with such "stability genes" that could protect the mRNA for longer period of times as well as antiproteases for the antigen (using  "dead" viral component) based vaccines. I can't imagine how this mono cocktail will look like and hopefully capable.  There could be other means hopefully not so much molecular but environmental.

  Laboratory Thoughts 

 What are the most common mutational sites in  pathogenic viruses ? Do they have a common mutational gene sequence?  If it is, I think in advance our molecular scientists will try making a vaccine out of this or outline a plan that would lead to vaccine making in such a faster manner.  An expert Mol Biologist could perform this smoothly.  Probably target the overlapping genes for they may not be a hundred percent common.  In case there is  problem with a virus in this family, then they could employ these as a means of urgent protection.  Also I am thinking about the  infectivity genes.  Can these be not targeted ? I think these infectivity genes maybe shared by these viruses and having a way of putting this at bay using molecular materials will be useful. So..  my thoughts at a moment.    

Oh Fish!

Previously, (In my former new page), I indicated the current problem in Fish Taxonomy: two camps having a tug of war. And how it affects the bilong- bilong. If one can sweep his/her hand gently to a puppy’s or kitten’s head,   It’s impossible to do it for the Mene as one’s concern. One camp says it is a carangiform the other says it’s a perciform. Look the Mene is doing a yaw! (“No No No, this is too much for me!”) Just relax Mene they will soon come into terms. (How about having an intermediary name instead?) Can students put two answers and both correct?

Trivia: Don’t you know that the three fish movements known as pitch, roll and yaw have equivalent movements (same terms used) in airplanes?  But I don’t know if they accurately mean the same thing.

By the way, In my First Page, I mentioned about a famous Ichthyologist that I communicated (in Hawaii) through email with no name revealed. This was the late Dr. John "Jack" Randall. I was asking about the Epigonus species? (am just recalling) that I had which is quite different from what was previously described. I was directed to somebody. Last April, 2021, he passed away and my heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues, and to everyone especially the Fish Staff of the Bishop Museum in Hawaii.

At that time, my students brought me samples of deep sea fishes. In addition to Epigonus, there is a genus for the snake mackerel, Promethichthys and I heard them talking about the liwit ati. That's too disgusting there is beauty in black. Might as well call it as liwit black beauty. Then there is the bilong bilong ati, then change it as bilong bilong black beauty. These common names were used because they "look like" it but literally they are not. 

To complete this data, I have a new scientific colleague, an awardee (the org that gave him his award I also have a name there), an Ichthyologist with a lot of (new) collections and a curator. Hello! This is the second fish museum curator I know;  one (as introduced by a wetland colleague) is in the Southern USA.

June 17, 2021  On Theoretical Biology

  The "Rooting " Game-  When I talk about a root, I refer to a basis for a particular phenomenon and usually as expected these are scientific that one can see in published journals not taken from mere stuff. [But mere stuff like experience can be lodged in theories ... if it is true and maybe contributory but can it be replicated for science? claimers, claimers - sometimes this become unscientific]  Let's go back to the Climate Change theory. I wrote an article about it because there were a number of information that seems to be so bloated and a lot of feedback too (against it). NOW, where is climate change rooted? How is it summed up? How does it stood or how does it swayed  toward  a vertical posture? And how's IPCC? As materials are gathered and more publications from peer reviewed journals sprout out, then I think there is a solidification of the phenomenon where one could accept it or was there a situation that no one like to "centrifuge the soup again" because it was just too tiring to dwell on those residuals especially?  that the pandemic of Covid 19 takes over.  With advanced equipment, background in molecular and cell biology and the expertise of scientists, it seems that what the statements are, are enough to be accepted.  Like for instance, release of publications that are not peer reviewed (as indicated) but later it seems true. And the molecular materials to test and stop but not eliminate.  (It starts as Emergency approvals)  But these are comforting to the minds.  And it seems that this pandemic and how the world is looking after it, is following a straight line.  I love to write theories and they are just sprinkled online and I had an early morning recall of one titled: Beyond the Genome: All Men are Created Equal (2005).  I wrote it  when, probably the time when the Human Genome was deciphered completely (Sequenced). Sometimes, one finds satisfaction when one reads theories and are irrefutable, like Einstein's theory of relativity.

*BIOSIS allows pertinent papers [especially, as what I think is an advantage,  single authorship ones like mine] to be included in a database after very careful evaluation  ...  just comparable, as how I view it,  to how Albert Einstein submitted his paper in a journal about his inevitable famous theory/discovery, was accepted, published without bearing any reference/biblio  (this was posted in my former page).  If you have the brain, is there a need  for others to teach you? That's the beauty behind Theoretical Science.

6/18/2021-  In India, they assumed that there is a Delta variant plus. Which means that the Delta variant has mutated. The delta variant is known to have 2 mutations  in its spike proteins considered as important and one is in the furin cleavage site.  More about Delta variant-  See below : June 27, 2021 post

Memoir with a Former University of the Philippines System President (as recorded in my old site pages)

   The only President of the University of the Philippines System that I was able to talk, by chance,  through her surprising approach  with small talks ( e.g.  websites) in a hallway of the Iloilo State College of Fisheries is  Dr. Emerlinda  R. Roman, the only Woman President of the UP System. 

Bits and Pieces- June 2021- This week - Through unexpected browsing,  UP Diliman's Parangal (Kawani at Retirado) in YouTube has included Celia C., of CC NSRI.  Beside that tasty home made pizza with canned sardines on it (until now I do not know how was it done), she welcomed graciously the graduate students of Ma'am Flordeliz U. and Ma'am Luisa S.  Some of her colleagues are still at CC.  Hello!  And June having a Rainbow  day- I can't forget  that commercial flight of mine from Tokyo via Delta* with "their" flight steward/stewardesses. My dinner, my lunch, my breakfast, my snacks, my requests, my extra foods,  my indoor 360 degree view, etc  were all served by them. How friendly and it was a nice experience!  This was a great surprise.  Where was I going- Tokyo to SFO, most likely. (*as far as I can remember)

June 21, 2021- What this paper says.   Some points to dissect. Firstly, IFN 1 has been implicated to the side effects, I think these are the common ones but currently there is no proof,  of the Covid 19 vaccines.  Secondly,  this paper also states that the  cytokine storm for Covid 19 is not due to IFN... A previous paper stated that  the cytokine storm is an interplay of IL-6 and TNF-@.  So this paper asserts that IL-6 production is not mediated by IFN 1.  Looking forward for interesting finds in this paper.

Pandemic Entertainment/Memoir

When I read Dan Padua’s article in Philippine Star regarding the reasons why the U.P. is special published on Jan 22, 2021, my attention was caught when he said that passing adjacent the CM, one could hear an operatic aria, pianos tuning, a cello maybe, competing for a space in the ear. Yes, I agree with this… But that was 1977 (my student number is a 77).  I also heard the same passing through CM in the 1980’s when I was in Diliman. Life was so “simple” during that time (except maybe for the shopping center and the kaldereta at the Coop). Today, besides the music generating voices and instruments edging into the outer ear, probably there are now honks of cars, sounds of speeding wheels and music from car stereos. A cacophony?  At that time, U.P was, the way I look at it..  a University for the Poor. I remembered in quite a spacious parking area in front of Palma, I saw only  two (appearing like) second hand cars. And love was simple too. When I went out of lab. in the late afternoon twilight, I saw a couple crossing the sidewalk I had to walk to catch up with the bus  (at the bus stop) adjacent? the Melchor. I saw UPD in the late 1990  and early 2000s when I had to meet with colleagues and attend a convention  after leaving the country for some time,   and  Now probably UPD is … well there is a pandemic.. I really do not know but after this, It will still be a different one from my experiences.

My  Opinion- July 01, 2021- Evolution of Basic Knowledge... Why no Nobel Prize Winners in the Sciences?

   In my post above regarding theoretical science, I mentioned that if you have the brains do you still need someone to teach you something- this is  (scroll up... it begins with "BIOSIS...") respective to Albert Einstein's irrefutable theory? Of course- what's the use?  And I said this is the beauty of Theoretical Science.  One limitation that I  see is that when a graduate student chooses an adviser it is with a 100%  assurance that his/her topic radiates from  the expertise of the adviser. So you see the limitation of knowledge here.  If he/she has a basic knowledge (in mind), who can tutor him or her because the faculty do not have the edge to do it? So it's either this student to- be does it for himself and creates a theory.  If you want these types of students to survive under the care of a university even the faculty who do not have the expertise as this is a basic knowledge, I would suggest that the faculty who had the nearest area of interest to the student's basic knowledge will just guide the student-  probably the formatting of writing a thesis or a dissertation or other paper works especially library search and  leave the student to evolve with his basic knowledge that will lead to a basic proposal building and subsequently to a basic result that would end up to the hands of Nobel Prize Committee for scrutiny. But before hand, it is possible for the results not the methodology to be funneled to a friendly expert in that area abroad  and have it published.  If this is not pushed through, then I could not see a big leap of the evolution of basic  knowledge here.  It's just going round and round sometimes in imperfect circles.

07/01/2021- Can this be nominated as a UN heritage?  In my first page, my students informed me about this ancient tank that could provide them with water  as well as adjacent pools that are naturally sustainable when it comes to water supply.  (Please see post titled : Sustainable Wetlands  (Advanced World Wetlands Day Celebration for this new finding in my First page). But as you this is still being used by the people; how can this be a UN heritage?  Probably some organizations that could preserve this place may be a pleasant alternative. I haven't been to this place yet because I need to get a motorcycle ride up the mountains and I do not know if I have the nerves at the moment. Why did I remember this again-  because of my preface to the English version of the Proceedings of the First Society of Wetlands Asian Chapter Conference; Asian Wetlands: Global Position. I just saw this link online and my statement there about ancient tanks comes into being. Here is the link. Let us all help preserve our wetlands.

07/02/2021- mRNA as a molecular “drug”:  How’s your translation apparatus doing? {new way of saying “how are you?” after a molecular boost}

 Looking inside the cell- I am so happy that the translation apparatus is at work… very receptive to the introduced mRNA strand… the ribosomes, the tRNAs, the peptidyl transferases, by chance the UAG or the UGA, what’s the remaining one ? [Hi Moderna what did you put in or Pfizer?], the amino acids: right, essential ones … did you eat proteins rich foods as they are the sources of the essentials? And the others, supporting its expression.  It’s working (as far as my eyes can read) hoping for most. A big thanks to the scientists behind these! Or did you tweak the translation with your mRNA... my mind is so suspicious [it could be for a better expression].

 I would encourage everyone to get vaccinated!

 I think my close  friends will be happy to know about my  next project. This is about my novel, Yelwa- Yauri (Beautiful Tears) (copyright registered, Library of Congress Washington, D.C.) which is centered primarily in Yelwa Yauri,  Nigeria. But the dedication of this novel does not limit itself to this place but to all of Africa!  I am dedicating this book to all of Africa!  I had been to Africa therefore it is not difficult to write a story about it in a fictitious  manner.  At present, the FB Page of Yelwa-Yauri (Beautiful Tears), the movie has received 960+ likers mostly from Africa. Once it reached the 1000 mark, I will bestow my prime concern to this project.!

July 6, 2021- Lambda variant  deadlier than the Delta variant. Here are links 1 and 2 .

When I look at these new deadly variants, they were previously found as few in numbers and later their numbers increased and caused mortality. How about if these patients with these variants in its initial stage be looked into so as to study the virus plus its reactions against the prevailing vaccines and assist the person's survival as well as prevent the new variant's spread. Too inhuman? It could be for the best of both worlds (the individual and the public).

July 06, 2021-  They call it side effects or symptoms as in this article when one gets a double dose of the vaccines.  These are specific vaccines- dependent (what UK used?) symptoms. Do they occur in other vaccine types?  Hopefully others would make additional info. (for their own vaccine types).  See my post above querying on updates. Here is the  link.  Additionally this article also reminds the possibility of getting infected even with the vaccine  jabbed.  So strictly enforce the PPE etc..etc.. Feel secure always with your PPE and  do all the other practices such as social distancing, use of disinfectants (hands) etc. for your own good and the public.

07/07/2021- Interleukin 6 antagonist drugs* show efficacy against  severe cases of Covid 19. Here is the link .

*I haven't thought (as to my pioneering statements) of how to stop or destroy  (I think for destroy- this could still be pioneering by me) the cytokine storm. But these  most admired scientists  did something to get rid of  a "developer** of cytokine storm."  Then why not think and do something to save humanity in the molecular way!  What's your research all about?

7/13/2021 My opinion-(as this seems to be of great concern) UPD students in terms of "bi- economic situation" at status quo. Here are three important areas that will be covered/researched upon.  a) Class Interactions B) Evolution and Adaptation c) Survival for the Fittest- will this be modified or remain as is?  As a prerequisite there will be a first year subject focusing on the "common tao" or "masa" as most of the people in this country are in this category.  And also the swings of balance from poor to rich and vice versa.  This is not an initiation or a "born again" type just a (part of a) subject. This is to help the students understand each other.  Why? Because in private schools mostly the enrollees have good economic status while in public schools most of them are the opposite. It is only in UPD, I think that both situations exist (50-50; 60-40?).  Then let's go to A and try to find out whether there are problems in interactions. Is there such thing as a "caste- like system" sprouting? I know that groupings welcome no economic status but they are usually based in qualities of a person to become a member.  Let us go to B. How do they Evolve in the presence of the other in terms of grades, school performance, curricular and extra curricular activities? In terms of Adaptation, have you noticed how they sacrificed a bit of themselves because of this bi economic situation or take advantage of? I think in this aspect if one has a character that is conducive for friendship in a legal way, such as intelligence or congeniality, there is not much of a problem here. Let us go to C.  Probably, problems between the two (in terms of studying ) with such an economic status will be looked into. Do they have problems studying in their condo or is it an advantage? This helps them a lot to become summas as most of them are? [not sure but an inkling,  in meet the summas in their type of AVP] How about the other? Is dorm life still the same? So studying and learning make no difference as before? Can they still excel as summas? Is there a need of extension halls (in their dorm) for them to study or if there is do they use it for something else (e.g. courtship)? If their rooms could not facilitate good study comforts  are the libraries free from mosquitoes and do they open 24 hours?  Are the students safe in going back to their dorms or eating their supper outside and returning back to the libraries? Or will the situation remain as it is- the classic definition of "survival for the fittest"? (in fact as if there is no such thing as a modification for the "survival for the fittest" for this remains the same regardless of infrastructure, etc. or anything else (?)).  In that way, then I think these opinions of mine will all be effaced {or serve as hints?} and let everyone evolve and adapt as to what the UPD society and its infrastructure and the atmosphere are, as a whole, will be today and in the future. I definitely would like a harmonious relationship between the two. Just like in wetlands, when  two currents meet, one originates from the  ocean and the other from atop the mountain, somewhere near the mouth of the river, they will create (just an ambient one) a whirlpool and I hope this whirlpool is a bond,  of understanding, and harmony carrying voluminous twirls of respects and not only between them but also from the strong forces of water that surround and protect them.

07/16/2021-My opinion- UP Standard for Admissions. I came to a number of FB posts about the status of UP admissions (at  facebookcomUPSystem OfficeOfAdmissions) as a result of UP admissions this year.  In my previous posts, I wrote about the new way of determining grades for the Phil. Government secondary schools and was asking if any college school will be reassessing those grades once they apply. (Please see my previous old /first page as it was written there.  In fact, I only knew about grades as a basis for UP admission for this year so I haven't done any recent reminder. Though this is pointed by one responder in the above FB on UP admissions).  And also another thing is if you want to have a life for example in the U.S.A. you need to have your grades evaluated so if the way the grades are given are different from the previous how would the US evaluators do about those grades. {I had  mine evaluated  years ago  before "this" came about and  the evaluators responded that it is similar to the U.S.A. standards and I still have one un opened copy.} So I really do not  know how the UP System do about with this grade evaluation (as pointed above), in addition to other concerns. As some said in FB UP admission posts- that  particular Science high schools have very  high grading systems so low grades were given in spite the students are doing good and they could have passed if there was the classical UPCAT.  I would suggest a reevaluation and also to broaden their appeal. I remembered when we were doing a wildlife task in one of the islands, my colleague informed me that he was able to be accepted at UP not through UPCAT but in other means so hopefully these protocols will still kick off to deserving students and non passers to be given another chance. I also remembered in 2018 a deluge of UPCAT applicants at Diliman (info and photos still online) due to the government free tuition scheme and I do not know what happened to them. I read that in a course at the Film Institute?  you do not need to take the UPCAT, you just have an interview and to showcase your talent as well as some awards or other inclinations so to be accepted to a two year course? and if successful you may be accepted continuously for a four year course... I am just recalling. So I hope this will be done in other courses considering of this pandemic and a change of style in the admissions.

-On Social Distancing- Please be less aggressive. 

 In any situation always create a distance between any one else at least (what is recommended.. in meters?)

-Be sure that person to person communication must not exist so communication through cell phones or sign language is a must.

-When one comes near you, run for your life. If one investigates you see to it that each time he or she approaches you with a forward step then you need to step one backwards. Or you can dance a cha cha with a lot of spacing.

- Maintain an equilibrium of distance.

-Adjourn very important meetings of a very few participants not with “the meeting is adjourned” but “The Delta Variant is here.” So everyone will either walk, maintain the social distance needed or run for their life (especially if there is an earthquake).

-Familiarize the following traits so as to control the delta variant spread-

a) Be snobbish

b) Look away from a familiar person so as not to entertain him or her

c) Show a sordid look so they have to be cautious in talking to you

e) Show a bill/receipt for payment and do not talk at all. 

f)  Practice the pushing exercise- so you could push anyone who wants to touch you immediately or flirt with you.

g) In restrooms, there must be one urinal not to be used in between two as well as toilet bowl cubicles. Ground peeing may be allowed but be sure one is not publicly exposed.

i) Practice slapping if one forgets to give respect to you like a fly away kiss (e.g. by your playboy husband) or forgets repeatedly his/her social distancing skills.

k) Be unanimously alone but happy. Talk, act, dance, pray by yourself   etc. for “all the world’s a stage”.

l)  Love yourself for in this instance others are just loving their own natural property.

July 22, 2021- Lambda variant in the U.S.A. Here is the link. 

My opinion-   I am surprise and glad at the same time to know that our potential athletes for the Olympics are being trained by foreign experts in the best areas outside of the country. In fact, It is now that I was able to get to know them especially when this girl from Zamboanga (I’d been to Zamboanga as a distance school mentor for graduates) won the Philippine’s first Olympic gold. Congratulations! As I probe the trainings of our athletes, what took my attention was that of our gymnast. Later I realized that he has to do it earlier with his trainer because that’s training in gymnastics. He needs to start it at a younger age. So he embodies a bit of the country’s culture, learn the language (schooling) and do his training vigorously. Now he is a gold keeper (twice) for world competitions but I like how he performed at Stuttgart. Congratulations and of course to our other potential Olympic to- be winners! In my previous post, I talked about training and transformation of HS students in the US as molecular technicians. Younger -age training is not parallel to gymnastics because training for Mol Bio could start beyond HS. Only I think that the biomanufacturing industries in the US need these skills urgently so the earlier they become experts  the better. But I could not see anything that they could compete into something in an “Olympic” scale. Techniques are getting faster mostly using automated machines so who did it first and it’s swell plus a concrete citation of what is it … so that is it?  Well I think this is not Olympics but could just be a classroom contest.  But what I am really afraid of is that the techniques come in kits and there are instructions to be followed and the goal here is to perfect it. But do they know the ‘behinds´ of what they are doing? The reagents, enzymes used, the plasmid types, etc. and the physical parameters employed so on and so forth. As a researcher or technician it is important that each step in kit’s instruction must be understood in all its aspect because that’s the only way that one can energize his brain and communicate something realistically new to his P.I.  PCR is fast but previous to that any gene/DNA can be run through a gel but so light to see and manual DNA sequencing involves vast rectangular plates with giant clips and what do you think of the combs.. larger and longer, too? But doing things manually, you know it, heartily step by step and very much self- involving because you are constructing its structural framework while utilizing it with your hands to evoke a successful experiment.  Not that you put it in a machine and here’s the result!  I know these kits/machines make work fast and are of consistency with specificity and sensitivity only it is my wish that whoever employ it knows the (molecular) mechanisms behind it [Sometimes, you hear someone in a conference I used this kit and here is the result. I only have 15 min.. {so no need to elaborate or you do not know how to elaborate....... difficult to judge.}] That's why one has to do his best to present a detailed and transparent scientific methodology  in his presentations.

Aug. 3, 2021- Book(s) or Scientific Paper To be read in One Sitting if available.

   The first is something to do with amino acids… the essentiality of it as essentials. Essentials meaning the body could not produce it. I haven’t had encountered a dated scientific article regarding the limited essentials (in humans). And how the none essentials (but it could be essentials for infants, etc. ?) but important (20? minus the  essentials) a. a. are produced in the body? Can there be some molecular statements in how are these produced using specific biochemical reactions?  And the essentials having no alternate? Everyone needs a grip on this. Sometimes, there are things that shoot out that need thorough presentation through detailed molecular and cellular discussion. I think you are familiar of the start codon producing methionine though it is not AUG. So absolutely, one has to loosen the science of it and wade through its scientific value. It may help boost theoretical ideas. The second is about the “Lumads.” There are so many ethnic groups and hopefully for each may have a history to tell, including culture, custom and their immersion in  the status quo.  I hope these will be available soon online or not.. and be a one sitting reading material (if it is of good quality).

Beyond Delta? Here is the link.  In this article there is a  concern about the transmissibility  gene.. in my post above (Laboratory thoughts), I termed it as the infectivity genes as a target for molecular materials including vaccines.

 I  encountered just recently about an article (I could not find it online as of now) wherein an expert  stated that there have been common mutational sites among this group of viruses. I mentioned in my post: Laboratory thoughts above, that there is a need to decipher these common mutational sites  (which I think has been initially done per previous statement) and to utilize it for vaccine development  (which was not included). Here is an  information  [could be updated] about these mutational sites.  (Lambda variant was not included here (8/10/2021 &  since date published) as a variant of interest, but is discussed in the post above {Beyond Delta?}.

Wildlife can be closer to the heart as what happened to Barry the Owl, a few -months residence of Central Park, New York.  It is exciting to have a wildlife resident there as there are huge trees, elevated landscape, wetlands and  humans who I suppose care (I went there  circa 2010).  Wildlife has been my interest being submerged fully to the various Aves in Africa but when I stayed in Los Angeles, I was limited to  a few and just like as usual the most important thing to do is to stare.  Hummingbirds and their nests (saw one in an ornamental  bush in a bus stop) and pigeon birds could be seen inside the university campus when we after a research work would sit in wooden benches in the patio. But what strikes me was the big owl living in a tall huge tree  adjacent the multi- storied library.  The owl's presence could be felt when it alighted at that  tree or when it produced a sound (The library has a terrace in an upper story so one could feel it closely when at the terrace). I believe that, that tree was its permanent place.  When I walked around the wire- fenced lot (off campus [not in the  univ. map] or in spite still connected to the university) in a sidewalk  separating it from the highway, I saw small owls coming out of their nests in the ground (online  info says they are the ground owls).  When I turned to the left, I saw a mound and there was a wild bird as big as a swan, making its nest at the "crater" of this human- made mound (I suppose). I then made a conclusion that this university or/+ ?? (if off campus I am not sure if the Univ has a role in these)  - really takes care of these wild birds could either be a resident or not. My love for wildlife has been  pitched high when I have these interests in Wetlands.  Now going back to Barry the Owl  at Central Park, how sad that it was permanently lost.  Here are  link#1 and link#2.

8/15/2021-  My opinion-  I talked largely about "Herd Immunity" in my previous posts (Visit my New Page)  and embedded its definition. And I think one of the scientists in this new  linked article mentioned quite similarly as what I wrote in my former posts about the “tamed” influenza (Browse my past posts in my new page most importantly).  Here is the link with its expanded meaning.     

My opinion- The way the scientists in the above linked article define “Herd Immunity” is I think very much similar to the meaning of “Immunity”, whereby the person or the population would have at least 100% protection against the invading pathogen- wherein it could not infect the person or make the person sick- so that is the expanded version of “Herd Immunity”. In the case of flu, if what we have today is a Spanish pandemic flu variant that has been “tamed” as what I have been mentioning in my previous posts (as well as in the linked article above this post) therefore causing (seasonal) infections but these can be cured naturally or through medical interventions and is common and does not lead to mortality except for people who are advanced in ages and have comorbidities, then I think, this is not yet, “Herd Immunity” as to their “statements”.  Remember the word “infection” and the phrase “making the people sick.” Therefore can we say that the Spanish Flu pandemic had never reached the “Herd Immunity” level?  As you see, I am also making use of this Spanish pandemic flu variant acquiring a “taming” status (common curable sickness that does not lead to mortality) with our immune system as what will happen to Sars Cov 2 variant(s) of Covid 19 as a way of ending the pandemic.  So a quasi- herd immunity, then.

Domesticity Scale for Wild Birds- This is a new concept in our 2013 paper- Nesting and Reproductive Behavior of P.  goiavier ..... I think the domesticity has something  to do with the "lessons" that the birds (applicable to other animals?) learned from the environment where they are in for a (very) long time.  I am not sure  whether I mentioned in that paper that there are some wild birds, especially in Africa,  where they mistook humans as wild animals, too wherein they lessen the gap of their being "wild." Here is an exciting find. And these birds find human hair just like animals' hair for nesting purposes. What domesticity scale will this bird be assigned? Pandemic Entertainment: The Sunflower- It's a different situation that recent graduates of UP Diliman did not include  a photographic immersion (due to the pandemic) with the famous sunflowers at the Univ. Avenue, which bears a hallmark of having finished their degrees, etc. from the prestigious university. I haven't been too close to a matured Helianthus plant (no sunflowers at the Ave. during our Diliman time) but I think it is that steadfast to bear its huge flower.. though it says that when young the flower faces/follows the sun. If taken by heart, the Sunflower has other meanings, too. Love is one.  The sunflower is one of those in the "fields" of  dreams, friendships, infatuations, courtship, marriage or partnership, hatred or even loss. Remember, Sophia Loren's  "I Girasole" or the English title of the movie she starred in, the "Sunflower" and the nice theme (search online) was by the late H. Mancini.  The story took place in Russia and Italy... as you recall or re read about this, let's  explore a bit of the sunflowers in Italy. Here is the  link.  [In this link, one can see a photo of a double rainbow.  In these pandemic days, I haven't seen a rainbow at all. Homeschooled kids, (if you have) can draw them.] Or the Sunflower, too with the common members of its family is a good botanical specimen because of its peculiar reproductive structures. In fact, its family is considered as the largest plant family on earth. Here is the link.  And last but not the least, it could be a garden plant together with the other members of its family. Only that it has to be cultivated or well, if the seeds can be secured in its place, it will just grow to where it was before but I do not think as robustly as with this other plant featured at ISTE (Int'l Society for Taxonomic Exploration) [available online].

In my previous posts above, I presented some point of views regarding life of the Isko and Iska at UPD.

Upon seeing the “Reconsider Me” video of 2019 by surprise- This is what I can say-  If only he knows beforehand-

I would like to make suggestions in how a UPD Isko or Iska aspirant need to be. What are these traits:  First one must be at least 90% independent- therefore you need to do things on your own (Why? Because any UP alumnus/diehard especially not close to you will leave you to challenge your own self) and 10% dependent- This constitute help or guidance especially if your parents are UP alumni, or from close relatives or from HS teachers, who are UP alumni or your guidance counselor in High School, or any trusted or close elderly, if they are UP alumni. Do not be afraid to ask for help from these people.  Secondly, you must be prepared for the UPCAT. The exam is divided into various sections- are you ready for these? Just imagine that there are these difficult examinations given for instance, in the USA, like the SAT (for incoming college students), GRE (for incoming graduate students), the CBEST (for those who want to teach in public schools) of California and Oregon… they also constitute different sections and I tell you these exams are very hard to pass. Therefore, you are taking UPCAT that has its own difficulty- scale, then explore the sections in the UPCAT examination and study (try to find out where you can avail of reviewers to add up to your stock knowledge) them diligently.  Thirdly, you try to devote your time to challenges in your pursuit to be an Isko and Iska at least 90% of your time and the remaining 10% will be devoted to your dreams. Learn from verifiable sources what to do to apply and take the UPCAT. Then for your dreams, take courses that suit you but because you are also given other choices take some that are not as competitive than the other.  You know what to do once you are accepted. Regarding your dreams, do not limit it to one. And do not compare yourself with anyone who has this dream of yours or a different one. Compete with yourself to success. If you have not passed the UPCAT, there are still ways of maybe, becoming an Isko and Iska- see the UPCAT/UPCA admissions in FB or in their own web  as well as read my post above (idea taken from an online video) about a certificate alternative in theater arts/music, etc. (Talent Test)? that may lead to a full pledged Bachelor course or probably, a sport scholarship and see videos posted by UP students/alumni* that are verified to be true about your chances. Once you pass the UPCAT, those three traits that I mentioned are still useful while you are studying at UPD and even after you graduate (different targets).

Let's make this clear- a) I think in her case, she was not able to pass the UPG of UPD so receiving the info that she failed the UPCAT,  but her UPG is within the limit of UPLB-  {I remembered a UPLB alumna (or her final year?)- her course is in agri business..}, video(s) online [about 2] about not passing the UPCAT may have a direct approach like DPWAS ? and the appeal average ..UPG? like 2.8 for UPLB (during her time)

b) He was not able to pass  the UPCAT/UPCA but used the transfer strategy from other schools-  A T2 category.  Find the July 2021 video titled "I failed the UPCA, what should I do?" Or another alternative video- Jan., 2021- "I got admitted to UP without passing the UPCAT".

c) Try listening to this  youtube- Jun 2, 2020-  How to get into UP even if you didn't pass the UPCAT- Extensive discussion on her "transfer" experience and where to ask for advice via FB, etc. She was accepted in BS Stat course at UPD using the T2. 

 Alumni are better than students because the latter are still in the process of surviving (factors like the MRR, cut off avg per sem in a very few UPD courses?? [if not attained, so change course], etc.) in the university so better ask familiar alumnus/na, especially one who is present at the UP campus. [or student(s), too if you think he or she is trusted at least you may be able to get new updates or personally, find out yourself].

Nov. 21, 2021-  This is a relevant article because this ordinarily occurs in  anyone's life, in dealing with the same species or even different species (like pets?) Is it? (for the latter). This is about setting up boundaries and its consequences and in this article, it tells you of its advantages. For instance, in one of my posts above, on traveling the UP Diliman paths, I wrote a make believe story about a UPD cat touching another UPD cat being cuddled both by Maria Makiling,  which I think is not favorable for the receiver.  By analyzing this behavior (or this boundary) by the performer, the benefit for this (for the performer or both) is I think, in  numbers 2 and 6 statements in this article. Therefore why pre- occupy one self on this boundary issues?  Once you read this, I think it will tell you how useless you are spending your mind fruitlessly. Better eat a luscious apple and "throw it all" (what transpired with the boundary issues) in the garbage! Here is the link.

Millenials love affairs*-

I talked to one former student and I opened what I observed in the social media about college/teenage relationships and this former student expanded it to me quite well. Millenials don’t end relationships as explicit as what our generation did. Meaning once they say they ended the relationship  the exes still have some visible public contacts even though one or both of them have new partners. What makes them so? They might have more lingering memories compared to our generation  because probably of physical matters  (well it’s online) and is maybe a basis of comparison (between partners). Or is this a form of revenge? I think our philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, etc. have to look into this.  If this is true. I can see an overloaded luggage to carry in life. To be responsive, one has to finish the degree, must find a job that saves money, assume family and social responsibilities and this weight of falling in and out and in (this time as friend) love this way or love again.  Can friendship matters here if one is taken or are these games to play? Is this flirtation to the highest? You see sometimes emotions are being spent unwisely and I can’t see which is which, the true from false, the fake from authentic. Is this collect and select and recollect or reselect? It could be a smile with a sneer (as mentioned in the Amidst Old Los Angeles FB).  It's not universal but getting a momentum?

*This is a multifaceted situation, as a writer, as a fiction (even written as such), this may need some "illegalities" of breaking the threshold. Contemporary philosophy here I come!

Celebrating Christmas as a senior, especially if alone (Pandemic Scenario)-- what's the best tip**--- order meals ahead* of X'mas at  least in the afternoon. In my case,  in a well known hotel restaurant at Atria (Just a random choice) and a delivery food service (they also offer your choices of restaurants and their food for you to order in their apps) brought (the foods) to me personally.  Beef tapa for Breakfast, Spaghetti Bolognese ( I ate ahead and it tastes good compared to the same recipe in others), Fettucine Carbonara and a Club Sandwich...(they need to be refrigerated and heated for X'mas day)..  one could serve as snacks or your lunch-- not so heavy for a senior I suppose.  (Assorted food in the ref could augment what you had ordered.)  So that's it  make your X'mas a good day besides our sunny skies are so good (in Iloilo City) to look at plus the windy pre X'mas day. Likely, the blessings start now.

From a true experience to fiction- When I went to Cairns, Australia, I forgot to fix my fetching process at the airport in Manila where I would arrive. So I think before the few days of my departure, I went to a computer centre in downtown Cairns then looked online for a travel company capable of fetching and booking arriving passengers. I was lucky to find one and I was told to send money to their account.  And nearby was a bank who took my request. It took a few hours or was it a day that I received a confirmation. So I arrived at the international airport in Manila via Sydney and there I saw a quite moderately sized placard with my name on it. So together with the fetcher who is also the driver, I stayed in the hotel where I booked.  If I have to translate this into fiction- then the arriving passenger is desperately an all - out of love person who went away in secret just to while away the time of a broken heart. So he arrived as part of his emotional itinerary.  More detailed actions please in the script (as a reminder).

 This is a part of a very expensive contract of let us say an “undercover scientist” at H. University. Click this link of  "Lone Grass" . That is his obsessive interest (as stalked by his agents) of fantasizing the women of his lust. They could be front pages of sexy mags or one he sees in videos with the actual natural beauty or with a bit of pamper.  It’s in no. 7? of the contract. After meeting with his secret boss in a suitable place and informing him of a positive answer for the completion of the puzzle, a small stub of paper with numbers of it was thrown in his front… representing his all paid flight package (+ accommodation + model’s fee) to let us say Athens, where this girl of his interest lives… and she meets him at the airport and he then experiences  the love he thirsts about… It’s one way of saying , “I did it” therefore “I need it” as part of a  gratifying package.  When the deal is done, he returns to a small chateau in the Alps (in Switzerland) to his wife ??? and to his two year old son ???  (It’s a secret, I won’t reveal. This is fiction.)

January 07, 2022-  My opinion- The current situation with the Omicron variant(s)*- The Vaccines and the Immune Cells.  Once there are mutations, these have to be mapped in the molecular level and  examined whether these mutations are within the core of vaccine reach meaning they could be neutralized by the antibodies provided by the vaccines’ antigen. For the rest that could not be reached at, then these will be left for the other types of immune cell such as T cells, etc. to act upon. Considering that probably, there is a fraction of similarity (see my polycistronicity comment in my previous post) in some parts of these mutated portions to others previously that could be recognized by these immune cells thus may hasten the stop reactions. Therefore, these two are hand in hand working it out when these polymutated  spike(s) variant comes into view. 

*these might have worked similarly with the other variants but with the longer the exposure the better.

01/2022- Booster Shot- I just had my booster shot in the same Tertiary Health facility in the City and  the Vaccination centre is very much organized with the staff working diligently. The same hardworking and receptive nurse that gave me my first and second doses also provided the booster shot. So Thanks a lot for this great reception not only for me but for the rest. Our gratitude to the tertiary health facility and the vaccination centre personnel, the M. D.s, nurses and the rest. Also thanks to my sister who is an MD and MD  family friends at this tertiary health facility. And also I have to congratulate my other sister, an MD who finished a graduate degree at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.  

Jan 07,  2022- Awhile ago I was thinking about the T cells capable of "memorizing" specific antigens and I am just thinking if this is at par with the B- Cells' antibodies.  I think this could support to what I have written (just above) in addition to other types of immune cells. Still looking for a paper that compiles the recent results for Immunological  Memory to this Covid 19 virus.  Here is a 2021 paper probably that could  earlier introduce this mechanism. 01/16/2022- My opinion- Omicron Variant

  Having existed in a previous cellular haven of other variants in the face of the natural immunity specifically the T memory cells and the antibodies from vaccines, I am just curious if the IL-6 will still make a striking breakthrough. If it is,  then, each will have to be very careful and will still be using medicines of arthritis which is expensive for the third world users.  I think if there are serious cases of this variant alone or with the others, then particular diseases for this will be laid out carefully- what type of pneumonia if there is, what type of other  lower respiratory and upper tract infections and other diseases that may develop. Fish Taxonomic Update*

01/25/2022- I have seen the scientific update for Fish Taxonomy (not in a ladder) and I am glad to see  Eschmeyer's Actinopteri. Only that it becomes more categorized and hoping each of these will have a specific understandable definition.  I am just happy to see the common description - incertae sedis [Order] (e.g.  Scaridae)  - I remembered this well in my unknown lichen species.

*Thanks to  R. Froese and D. Pauly (2022) and everyone in between for this hopefully clear update. I once communicated with any of them?? but I received no answer but now am glad that this problem (see my above posts [maybe in my earlier pages] about problems in Fish Taxonomy) is (hopefully) solved.

02/03/2022- My advice this Valentine’s week or days…

“Take it moderately serious”.   Valentine's heart is for love. For someone animated but it could be in animated too (like a robot? Or is it insane?) who can impart love to you in some (higher) degrees of satisfaction.  I remembered in one video, there was this guy hugging himself because he was isolated from his loved one due to pandemic. But technology has some sort of bringing people closer (target are the OFWs) but physically intangible. That is if you have the technology and know how to use it. Who then loves you? It could be your friend whether you are inferior or not, I think you have one. And you need to cultivate this beforehand. Your wife /husband/ bf/gf/a relative/an office mate or co- worker/a common person- these people if you think with an inner perspective, do not cause a problem to you (therefore loves you) though the relationship is public or private. The latter is somehow a “paminsan minsan lang” because of its nature. If so far out but alive consistently, loving oneself is also possible. Shower yourself with gifts of love. Let your emotions be expressed through various means like writing a script that glees you or see a movie, etc. Pets can take the place of humans, or you may have friends in online rooms who share your interests but be wary about this. Online relationships are never serious unless  you see each other personally with minimum or no "make- up". Control your feelings in a moderate level. Don’t overshoot it (or overexcited) or bring it down to the utmost nadir. Loved ones (humans or pets) are never permanent- they get lost beyond one’s control. Therefore, love obsession is a no- no. This is a form of "parasitism".  Savor the day(s) with moderate feelings. Here there will be no “drowning”  to ones “tick- tock” of the innervating nerves. I mean, this happens when you think of somebody extra special .. and this, I think is even a distraction and may need medical intervention if over “tick-tocked.” Don’t tell me that you haven’t felt this. If overexcited then bring it down to the moderate level; if so depressed bring the emotions up to the moderate level, too. Find, an animated substitute (e.g. see above who these are) who loves you not necessarily a clone of one who trashed you.  Listen to music that tunes in a moderate level- no climaxes but something that could keep your emotions happy and satisfying – a “medium cooked” type.  With your loved ones, over some delicacies of choice or just sweet conversation, you may like to listen to this music which I think has an influence for a moderate essence of expression. In addition to Champs Elysees arc,  I saw a huge ferris wheel  at the distance.  Happy Valentine's everyone!!

HIV Issue- The HIV has not been a topic of concern due to this Covid 19  pandemic. Because the precautionary measures for safeness (quite or most favorably, in some instances) overlap with the pandemic.  But now that particular activities seem to loosen up, then this has also to be given due attention. Know what safe sex with protection is or without.  As far as to my knowledge of literatures, there is no cure for HIV.

Precautions for computer buyers- Be sure that when you purchase a computer the back mid screw of Acer has not been twisted or deformed (pasted with white glue?).. which mean that the computer has been opened. And some screws were missing. I bought it in the morning for DoubleDigitK and returned in the afternoon to take it for the reason that it was brought outside so the clerk would had a signal to have it registered for microsoft  during the remaining hours of the morning till early afternoon and when I returned to pick it up in the store in the  PM, I thought everything's ok. 02/25/2022- (As stated in my above post about making comment in this) My opinion- The “Endemic” for Covid 19- The word endemic is quite (over) used bearing different meanings but pointing this out to a particular geographical area where the Covid 19 virus has been “tamed” (just scroll up to my previous posts-molecular synchronization, etc.-  regarding this) – then I think in its vicinity which is proclaimed as endemic, a summary of molecular neutralizing points must be revealed—where was the most effective attack in the molecular and cellular check points which stops the virus for advancing to its lethal pathogenicity. Though it may have a particular pattern (the weakest point was taken advantaged of) of having similarities in the actions of particular immune cells or it could be an exclusive array of attacks- having its own cascading mechanism.. but in this mechanism which has the greatest point of destruction and the rest just cascades from it. Then these molecular neutralizing points will be revealed and compared… and then might as well compare with the “taming” of the pandemic flu.. What are the similarities? (Though no molecular studies were undertaken with the pandemic  flu while it was ravaging mad). And of course—the real score there is, it stops the cytokine storm or reduces it to something less but nothing much to worry about.  Also to make it clearer if these are products of vaccines and natural immunity- that’s why the immune cells are these types and they react these way compared with the immune cells of the survivors but infected who are not vaccinated. Let the patterns emerge (Endemic specificity?). Now, these are important stuff.. and we will see, (who knows)  if there will be a molecular revival effacing endemism in that vicinity. Must be very careful of proclaiming it.

To all Retired and Retirees to- be of UPD and  others, if you are still suffering from  PTRS - or Post Traumatic Relationship Stress, can you please bury it, figuratively speaking  (person, memories, etc.) in the "Atlantis".  Even though these are faded with this, at least you are happier than before. 03/12/2022- Covid 19- What are we up to?

Well, I think, we have been bombarded with these vaccines then what are we up to as the days approach? Are we still carrying these particular symptoms in hidden physiological defects or subtle infections?  Are our genes or cytoplasm/organelles incorporating/carrying these by products?  Any way to get rid of these? Pathogenic Post translation?

Psychological aspect- Are you now ready to get out of your shell and try to move your self (skeleton+muscles) for a better thinking?

My suggestion- Establishing a Foundation for the Needy- in one of the Universities that I took courses and did research in the U.S.A., the foundation never runs out of money. And these were used mostly for research purposes. Regarding this Foundation that I just labeled, this is intended for the needy students of UP Diliman. I do not know if this lessens the capacity of the students to learn the survival economic skills or let us say spoiling them a bit. But I think survival skills here in UPD is in the academe- how to pass and survive the subjects taken and all other requirements so as to graduate. But the survival skills for their academic needs I think will be a little bit supported. So where will be the source of the money? I would suggest from higher income bracket parents (hibp) of UPD students. These refer to their extras as anonymous donations- just like if you give money to the Catholic church you do not put your names there. These monies are extras. And considering that their kids are given the best education in the University whether they fail or pass. Failing is a part of education strategy to do something more so as to breeze the storm. Or those  hibp parents whose children  have newly graduated from UPD and would volunteer to donate. Why? Let us look at one instance*… A freshman had to run the field as a requirement for their PE class I think and this freshman did not have  tennis shoes… But good gracious, a dorm mate let this freshman borrowed his/her shoes (Hope you are fine now and graduated.. I was not a part of your dorm but that was relayed to me). Can this be done as a Foundation or an Organization? Donations will be strictly accounted for. UPD think tanks start swirling your brains!

 Sri Lanka’s 2019  publication for the use of lichen as a Bioindicator for atmospheric pollution was limited to the abundance of Pyxine species. I requested to kindly identify it to the species level so if it is Pyxine cocoes then we could put Sri Lanka among the Asian countries using it as a pollution indicator and later biomonitor. March 22, 2022- Sometimes falling in love is no longer towards a human being... it is towards the memory of a place and memories that you had with it as well as the memories of others in that place, too. The place is of course UP Diliman. And in here is the beginning of the  memories in UP Diliman of being freshmen.. Above,  I posted about the lumads and my interest in knowing about their particular existence which may be unique especially in the aspect of culture. Now the Dept of Broadcast Communication in the Philippine's 100 Years of Broadcast Communication, UP Diliman up hold their interest in epic folklore  (like the Tagbanwas of Palawan) which I think may be a parallel interest  of mine with the lumads. And these epic stories through chants and similar vocal expression may be heard over the radio... organized by the UPD, UPV (in June 2022) and the others. So I do not know how the notes will be when a particular emotional situation is being chanted about.. Is there some hints when it comes to costumes or change of it? How variegated the chants are?  Let us support these interests!

Molecular Pharmacology and Personalized Medicine.. 

 I am currently browsing the book  (please see below) given to me by the  National Organization for Rare Disorders.  There are diseases that are considered to be so unique and exclusive that  mostly orphan drugs are needed. But I think for diseases which can be seen as a regular component of population and have particular medicines directed to it but absence of supplements minus that particular component for that particular disease. For instance we have milk and other supplements that are scientific but has iodine in it, do  you think this is as good as a staple for the hyperthyroid?  Is that so expensive to make such drugs/supplements  of that kind especially for the geriatrics? We are being cloaked into molecular sciences so don't be left behind!

Molecular Research Studies indi Padala lang.... For those who are doing research, I definitely  would like hands on experience on techniques- if it is a DNA kit etc., this has to be introduced how it works in publications using one or two statements and later in the discussion- what are the relevant and the irrelevant components of it (But sometimes you say in your mind  the company is sponsoring this I can't say bad about it. )  In terms of sequencing, which is a common technique I don't think any country who is doing molecular research do not have it. In the US, we started with DNA sequencing plates and later I believe they are as modern as anyone else.  I left, with the Flow Cytometry being demonstrated.  Hands on are important for a research student. He/She must know thoroughly the procedures. Ang padala siguro pwede if you have done your sequencing right to determine phylogenetic relationship o kung ano pa dyan--  o so skeptical ang lahat at kailangan validation... ano ba yan??  but I donot think this is happening to a UPD. Matalino ang taga UPD! I posted about this quite-an error stuff  regarding presentation involving kits in my above post a long time ago.

This time- in here is the "gourmet" that UP Diliman has to offer. You can buy it cheap but it seems that if it is a street food is there no rice with it?  Probably in some neighboring stores in the area?  Or you can buy one cup of rice separately? Be in the correct budget and eat something that is quite a balance to the needs of your cells especially your brain. Besides you have active young cells to shoot the problems in your subjects.  By the way, eat moderately- and this next video shows you some foods in UP Diliman including their prices and really, can you eat that much? Firm Advice to UPD students , Faculty etc.- You do not have to be so rich to experience a rich life- I mean in terms of money and ways of living even for a (long) time. Support personal international linkages. Be an organizer of a chapter. Be an officer of a confirmed scientific, etc. organization or a Board member of  an international organization with a lot of funds. You will have free plane tickets, stay in first class hotels such as Ritz C., and have to experience this way of life for as many years as you are deemed important to the organization.  Parang ayaw mo na yumaman because you experienced kung ano ang yaman by your expertise. Plaudits pa sa yo as well as these amenities given. Famous ka pa online. Kun self supporting na travel- pera mo pa ang maubos, pipitsugin na hotel pa ang kunin mo. I would suggest huwag ka na mag hotel na ganyan na manlang  stay at your friend or sibling's room (sa floor visitor) malamig naman (kun sa america) kasi di naman  katulad Ritz C ang hotel na ne book nyo eh. No difference. So start na guys!  Make proper contacts and present yourself.. the right scientific, etc. way.

 April 24, 2022- Learning something new while commuting. Someone talked  about the Covid 19 pandemic and  cited places where there is a resurgence of this disease and its lethal consequences. Then to my surprise he talked about Parkinson's disease, then Dystonia and later a certain neurological ataxia. And I informed, that these are no longer viruses but genetic disorders, I suppose. And then he informed me about the Spinocerebellar ataxia. And I told him, it could be a rare disease affecting certain families (that includes his) in the Philippines. Then I consulted the NORD book- and I think I come closer to it as to what he meant: the  Machado- Joseph Disease.  There is Differential Diagnosis for this disease and it  has three phenotypes. And when I looked up the signs and symptoms that include  Parkinson's and Dystonia.  That's why I was surprised why these 2 diseases were mentioned by him. This is something new to me.

My opinion- There is this one notable alumnus from UP Diliman, where I just knew his achievements not only in the country but worldwide. He has been a speaker and invited guest (fellow) in very outstanding universities, like Cambridge, Harvard U., etc. He has written a number of exemplary books and one of them is with Cambridge Press. And I think he has produced some journal publications. With his realm of knowledge and the international experiences he have, do you think he still needs one person much brighter than him for the highest  mentorship?  I don't think so. He is very much a built in expert, cocooned in highly relevant core of discipline(s) which I think no one can replicate.  To obtain one is just an art.
