The Supervisor Role & Expectations Handbook will provide you with information about key players and roles during the student teaching semester, roles and expectations of the Supervisor, mentorship and coaching information, and formal evaluation tips for successful communication.
The following links provide the three tools that we use to evaluate student teachers throughout the semester: Early Observation Report, STOT - used for Midterm and Final Evaluation, and the Level 4 Disposition. These are copies of the forms that you will be submitting into Watermark for reporting.
The Skills of Teaching Observation Tool (STOT) is used to evaluate student teachers at UND. It is used for the Midterm Evaluation and the Final Evaluation during the student teaching experience.
The training needs to be completed before the Midterm Evaluation is done on your student teacher. It is mandatory for all cooperating teachers and supervisors to complete this training. You will not be required to complete this training again unless the STOT form is changed by the state. For example, if you complete this training now, and decide to work with another student teacher next school year, you will not be required to complete this training again at that time.
Make sure you click on the option that corresponds with the age range of students you work with. If you work with multiple grade levels, you get to choose which one you would like to complete. You may want to have a copy of the STOT to look at while you complete this training.
Shortly after completing the training, you will receive an email with your name with date and time of completion. Please keep this email for your records.
Thank you for completing the STOT training! This helps make sure that everyone is comfortable evaluating student teachers from UND!
We are thankful to have you all mentoring our teacher candidates!
