Radhika Vaz is an Indian-born, New York– and Mumbai–based stand-up comedian and writer whose work blends sharp social commentary with personal storytelling. A former advertising executive with a master’s degree in advertising from Syracuse University, she pivoted from agency life to improv, training with the Groundlings in Los Angeles and in New York, and then built a solo career that’s toured India, the U.S., and beyond. Her breakout one-woman shows—Unladylike: The Pitfalls of Propriety and Older. Angrier. Hairier.—played to packed rooms in New York, Los Angeles, and major Indian cities. She later co-created the award-winning web series Shugs & Fats, which won the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Series (Short Form). braingainmag.comAstraySoho TheatreWikipedia
Beyond the stage, Vaz is a columnist at The Times of India, where her “Read it and weep” essays have examined gender, relationships, and everyday hypocrisies with deadpan bite. She has also written for publications including Vogue, Verve, and GQ, and published a candid memoir, Unladylike (Aleph, 2015), which charts her life through four decades in a voice that’s equal parts brash and thoughtful. The book remains widely discussed and reviewed, and is available on Amazon and Goodreads. The Times of IndiaAleph Book CompanyAmazonGoodreads
In 2025, Vaz launched Good Headspace, a conversational comedy podcast where she and fellow comics, writers, and friends debate romance, ambition, and the daily mess of being human. New episodes and video pods live across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, and she maintains a second, long-running YouTube presence for her stand-up clips and monologues. Vaz continues to tour new material and thematic shows (including How I Met Your Mother-in-Law and other relationship-forward sets), while popping up at clubs, festivals, and conversation series. Recent interviews highlight how she uses humor to challenge norms around marriage, motherhood, and sexuality—keeping crowds laughing while nudging them to think differently.
