Hi! Weโre Nick and David, two High School students from Hong Kong!
As Covid-19 has restricted much of the worldโs travel, we figured that we might as well travel within Hong Kong. Fortunately, Hong Kong is an international city (nicknamed Asia's World City), with more than 120 diplomatic missions from countries around the world.
While consulates are not officially considered foreign territory, under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, consulates enjoy certain immunities that make them very distinct from their host country, essentially, allowing them to act as if they were โforeign soilโ or as we like, pockets of foreign countries scattered around the city. Plus, consulates serve as cultural representation for their nations, pretty much making them the closest thing to a foreign country that weโre going to get.
Join us as we try to visit every consulate in Hong Kong, talk to new people, and learn about different cultural and economic ties that have a significant presence in our city!
DISCLAIMER: THIS PROJECT PURELY REVIEWS THE CONSULATES, OUR INTERVIEWS, AND OUR EXPERIENCES THERE. ANY REVIEW DOES NOT REFLECT OUR POLITICAL VIEWS REGARDING THE NATIONS OR ORGANIZATIONS WE VISIT. OUR INTENTIONS FOR VISITING ARE SOLELY CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL.
