Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran 🇮🇷
Location: Unit 701, 7 floor - The Suns Group Centre - 200 Gloucester Road - Causeway Bay
Being the first consulate we visited, we were pleasantly surprised at the welcoming environment that the Iranian Consulate provided. While the facilities weren’t the most extravagant, we felt that the consulate was clean and that it provided homage to the country, with a large Persian rug lining the floor and several tasteful photos of Iran lining the walls. After talking to a consulate official about our intentions, we were greeted by Mr. Hosseini, the Consul (Cultural and Consular), who kindly sat down with us and answered our questions. We learned that the Iranian population residing in Hong Kong is relatively small (~200), however Iran’s presence in Hong Kong is not negligible, with past Iranians establishing hospitals, financing Hong Kong universities, and living as students and professors. As of now, Mr. Hosseini told us that the Iranian presence in Hong Kong is largely educational and cultural. That being said, they welcome any further developments in the Hong Kong - Iran relationship.
Given our positive experience, we’d like to thank the Iranian consulate general and especially Mr. Hosseini for his hospitality. We’d highly recommend a visit to Iran one day!
