Call for Papers

The 27th edition of the Conference of the Student Organisation of Linguistics in Europe (ConSOLE) will be held between February 21st-23rd 2019 by the Leibniz-Preis Research Unit for (Experimental) Syntax and Heritage Languages (RUESHeL) at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in Berlin. ConSOLE aims to showcase the best papers in linguistics by students from across Europe and the rest of the world and provide students with a platform to present to an international audience.

Graduate students and early-career researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentations (20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion) and poster presentations. We invite abstracts of both theoretical and empirical significance from across all linguistic fields, e.g. Syntax, Morphology, Phonology, Semantics, Diachronic linguistics, Phonetics, Pragmatics, Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, experimental methods, among others. ConSOLE has traditionally been a forum for generative linguistics, while this remains a preference, papers not including generative approaches, especially in the case of empirical/experimental studies, are not excluded.

The deadline for abstract submissions is September 30th, 2018. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out in late November 2018.

Abstract guidelines:

  • Abstracts should be a maximum of 2 pages (including references, examples, tables, keywords, etc.) and must have 2.5 cm (1 inch) margins on all sides, and be set in Times New Roman with a 12pt font.
  • Submissions are limited to two per author, with at most one paper being single-authored.
  • The submission must be anonymous and not reveal the identity of the author(s) in any way.
  • Please indicate whether your abstract should be considered for oral presentation, poster presentation, or for both.
  • Abstracts should be submitted in PDF format through EasyChair by September 30th, 2018.
