We mean it about the ratters. There have been incidents. Don't make us make an example of you. Looking at you, Tina.
What you know could save a life!
Consider the following scenario: Centaurs broke through the gates of your freehold and, while your fighters have neutralized the immediate threat, you have several citizens down.
Disclaimer: This website is not an authorized medical resource and this advice should only be used in the event of sudden apocalypse or other form of complete civilization collapse.
1 - Check the scene for additional safety hazards; always pay attention to sunset. Predators come out at night. Always.
2 - Quickly (10 seconds) assess the victim - breathing, bleeding, broken, wounded by poisoned arrows. Do not move unless centaur hordes return.
3A - If non-responsive, call 911 if still available and/or if your phones still operate, then provide CARE based on the training and resources you have on hand. Note - if victim is unresponsive and not breathing, start CPR, use a functional AED, or contact a Mage healer immediately! CHECK if additional care is needed.
3B - If responsive or has non-life threatening injuries, conduct a more thorough CHECK, ask questions about pre-existing conditions and allergies, etc. CHECK if additional care is needed.
4 - After completing CHECK, contact appropriate medical help (if not done so already) and provide CARE based on need and your abilities.
5 - Continue to maintain security awareness. Be Alert! Stay Alive. Take cover before nightfall.
Take Away Lesson: Be prepared to act BEFORE you need to actually do so.
Consider: Loot your local library or, while you still have internet, visit the website of the American Red Cross - Training Services. Get certified in First Aid/Life Support while you can. Take online courses, and train with the mages in your freehold community.
Be Responsible for your fellow Beings!
"Single-use bags, plastic bottles, food containers and food wrappers are the four most widespread items polluting the seas, making up almost half of the human-made waste, the researchers found. Just 10 plastic products, also including plastic lids and fishing gear, accounted for three-quarters of the litter, due to their widespread use and extremely slow degradation. "

Attention new citizens of the Virtual Freehold
We have it on good authority that giant spiders of advanced intelligence will be one of the many new mutations we will be sharing our planet with in the near future. This may be frightening, but consider this:
Giant spiders are friendly to those who are kind to them
They eat the predatory bats
Ratters are also a favorite meal
So are enemies such as centaurs and looters
Spidersilk is strong, warm, and holds dye beautifully!
It is unknown at this time if the Joro spider will be the ancestor of the new, giant spider species, but it wouldn't hurt to try and maintain friendly relations anyway. You might gain a powerful ally in the near future!
In the meantime, anything that eats those darn stink bugs has got to be a good thing to have around.
