The Art department at Bow School is a closely knit team of passionate artist teachers. Our aim is to try and provide our students with the tools, contextual understanding and opportunities required to communicate their ideas visually at GCSE and beyond.

Year 10 have been exploring the work of
Grayson Perry and were inspired to create their own altar ego after seeing Perry’s childhood bear Alan Measles featured in his work.
They went on to design their own pots exploring their pet hates and experimented with earthenware glazes.

Year 9 have been studying portraiture through exploring the work of Kehinde Wiley and William Morris. They have developed drawing skills, and contributed to collaborative portraits of successful Black Londoners.
For the backgrounds, students experimented with making their own dyes using the orizomegami technique, designed their own repeating image lino print onto their paper inspired by William Morris.

Year 8 have been learning about Protest Art through exploring the work of Ralph Arnold and Banksy.
Each student chose a pledge from the convention on rights of the child that resonated with them, and used different collage techniques and stencils to create a protest T Shirt design.

Year 7 explored colour theory through investigating the art of Sonia and Robert Delaunay.
They designed their own compositions using a selection of shapes and painted them using three colour theories: Complementary, harmonious and tints and shades.
