When thinking of where I am going, my initial hope is to be working at Cook Children's for my 500 hour internship this summer. Cook Children's is one of the top Children's hospitals in the country and with it being only 15 minutes away from campus, it would be an excellent opportunity to experience and would be extremely beneficial to the outcome of my career.
My current influence is my academic advisor, Casey Call. Casey guides me through all things Child Life and knows what is best for all of her students when it comes to career route, class schedule, and overall sucess. She encourages me as I pursue my goals and challenges me through my work as a Child Development student.
Through my research as a Child Life student, this article has helped guide me through what effect Child Life Specialists have on children, their families, and their journey to overcome illnesses. It reveals the difference it makes to be guided through this traumatic season and what strategies are influencing families the most. The article brings a sense of peace that the work I am pursuing now is making a difference in lives all around the world.
