As a student in the College of Science & Engineering in Child Development, I plan on pursuing my dream of becoming a Child Life Specialist. "A Child Life Specialist must assess the psychosocial needs of children and families and provide appropriate therapeutic relationships and activities. Hospitals may also refer to child life specialists as activity therapists, play therapists, or therapeutic recreation specialists" (ACLP 2022).
"Child life specialists help young patients develop ways to cope with the anxiety, fear and separation that often accompany the hospital experience. They give special consideration to each child's family, culture and stage of development." (ACLP 2022)
