Criteria needed to be met before considering applying for a Senior Volunteer position:
Must complete at least four (4) sessions (at least 2 small group sessions and 1 large group session) with Josie and the rest of the group prior to applying.
Must be accountable for tasks given.
Must be able to regularly attend sessions.
Must be responsible and mature enough to handle gardening tools, such as shovels, rakes, hoes, and pitchforks.
Must be knowledgeable on the subjects of composting and sustainability, enough to be able to teach others on the material (teaching material will be provided by Josie prior to sessions).
Must be able to teach, supervise, and handle young children.
Must be able to do manual labor, including but not limited to: shoveling, raking, and carrying objects of about 50lbs.
What to expect as a Senior Volunteer:
To help lead the group in sessions alongside other Senior Volunteers and Josie.
To be able to answer questions from volunteers during sessions.
To be able to handle oneself alongside volunteers who may be a decade (or more) younger.
To be seen as an example for other volunteers.
To conduct oneself in a professional manner.
To help in the loading/ unloading of materials.
To help in the putting away/ cleaning up the composting area after sessions.
To meet with Josie and another Senior Volunteer for smaller sessions for maintenance purposes.
