In July 2018 the U12 football festival had been a great success. To develop U12 football we would need Young Coaches. In September 2019 Community Sports Leaders Africa designed, delivered and evaluated a Young Coaches Leadership course. In Chitipa there are 11 registered football clubs. Each club was asked to identify two potential coaches to attend the 3 day course. 15 young coaches from 6 clubs finished the course and are now challenged to work with their clubs senior coaches to organise Under 12 training and festivals under the guidance of Wachisa Munkhondijah . There were 6 female young coaches trained who are challenged to hold regular training and set up an Under 12 girls mini league. Each participating club received a football and an '8 a side' kit. 4 sets of goals were made locally with a grant from the Friends Of Malawi Association. On the final day of the course the Young Coaches organised an U12 football festival with 6 teams involved. All admin such as photocopying was done locally to support the local economy. It is hoped that all clubs will take advantage of this initiative in 2020.  

Wachisa Munkhondijah took an active part in the planning, delivery and evaluation of the course. His insights were vital to the smooth running of the course. Wachisa is a great mentor and role model to these Young Coaches. Here he is pictured with Christopher Mtambo, a player Wachisa coached as a youngster. He now plays for Chitipa United and has attended training with the Malawi National team. 

Since October 2019 under his supervision the Young Coaches have held weekly training and two more Under 12 boys football festivals. Girls training has started well with over 100 attending regularly coached by the six trained female coaches from Nyabinghe  FC. In October 2019 the girls had their first festival.
