Through early 2018 we had collected a large amount of donated kits, boots and balls. Kit had been donated by Alnwick Town Juniors FC, South Edinburgh Community FC and Felton Juniors FC. We wanted to encourage the development of U12 football in Chitipa. There were already leagues for adult, U17 and U14 teams but no progression from the younger ages. Wachisa was very keen on the idea. We had made 2 sets of mini goals with funds from FOMA. On a sunny day at Kawale Primary School the scene was set for the first ever Chitipa primary schools festival. Each of the 14 schools sent an Under 12 ''8 a side' team. The event was a big success and would be the inspiration behind the 2019 Young Leaders initiative.

A huge success
Local clubs benefited from recycled kit from the UK. Nyabinghi FC (in South Edinburgh Community FC kit) played a friendly against Santos FC (in Alnwick Town FC kit). The black and white of Alnwick won 3-2 in front of a large crowd at the CCAP ground. People back in the UK loved the pictures and pledged more support in the future.
In 2018 Chitipa United FC finished top of the Malawi Northern Football League. They have been promoted to play in the Super League of Malawi in 2019. They have no official sponsors so have to raise money locally for running costs and transport to games. South Edinburgh Community FC were keen to support. A set of tracksuit tops were donated to the team and committee which they proudly wore before the local derby versus Lufita FC.
