The Arc of Oswego County - Community and respite programs

Offer community programs that provide a wide range of social and recreational options to assist individuals with developmental disabilities in learning new skills and participating in community-based activities. Also, respite services should be offered, these individualized activities should be planned for and with an individual or a group. ARISE Oswego - Ramp accessibility at home. 

Ramp Program in Oswego County that helps individuals and families obtain wheelchair ramps to safely enter and exit their homes so they can shop, go to work, go to school, and be a part of their communities. In order to be eligible, you must have a mobility impairment, be income eligible, and live in Oswego County. AccessCNY’s Family Support Services (FSS)- developmental disabilities support; home/work/school accessibility; FEAT of CNY (support and training); counseling; family reimbursement; home services programs; housing subsidies; individualized support; summer recreation programs; and Project Adapt (funding to buy adaptive technology). Require eligibility from the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). If they do not have OPWDD eligibility, their Service Access Assistance program can guide them through the process of gaining eligibility. Most services are available from newborn to senior age. AccessCNY’s speech, language, and sensory Therapy Services- developmental disabilities support towards speech, language, and communication skills. As well as sensory integration therapy for individuals with sensory-related problems, recognizing, understanding, and responding to sensory information. Liberty Resources- Crisis services- Offer support to the community experiencing crisis, whether by phone, in person, or respite care. Provides residential and nonresidential services that include primary care, behavioral healthcare, integrated care management, peer services, and early intervention. Offers services related to substance use disorder, intellectual disabilities, and child welfare. Also provides crisis respite, HIV/AIDS homeless housing, domestic violence shelter, and crime victim assistance. Assess needs and provide referrals and recommendations for treatment. Oswego County health department - CYSHCN program - For children from birth to 21 who have or are suspected of having a serious or chronic physical condition, developmental, behavioral, and/or emotional condition. This program can help families access insurance, set up diagnostic testing and evaluations, offset medical bills, and pay for hearing aids and other durable medical equipment. They can also pay for up to three diagnostic evaluations to rule out certain conditions, including but not limited to hearing loss, heart defects, neurological problems, some vision defects, and cerebral palsy. This is a no-cost resource and referral program.
