Current Pacific Grove PD budget: $7 million out of $20 million city budget. Reallocate as much as possible to library and social services

1. • Position control List- do not fill vacant positions for police officers and remove from list to save tax dollars (4 in 2019 budget report)

   • No $70k for SRO

   • No $16k for DARE - DARE, like abstinence only education, has been proven ineffective by studies such as this one from 2004

   • Cut excessive training budget - eliminate travel, especially during COVID

   • Invest in mental health services like those provided by Village Project in Seaside. How can we invest in this already effective and community-based org? Pay for them to hire more therapists that can support our PG students, too! Provide a building space, like the SRO has, but instead of an armed police officer, a trained mental health professional who is culturally responsive can respond to students' wellness needs.

Fire the anti-government cop

1. • Fire the officer, don't just move them to administrative duty

   • Ban from law enforcement

   • No pension/severance

   • Demand officer repay us as a city for fraud. Clear violations of oaths and values from police policies.
