Description

A popular downtown garden located across from Schneider Haus that showcases the innovative ideas, skills and communal efforts of the gardeners and features an Edible Garden around its perimeter which can be enjoyed by non-members as they pass by the garden. Access to land, building community, and the  recognition of the importance of fresh, organic food are the driving interests in the creation of gardens like this one. Workshops, knowledge sharing and mentorship are greatly encouraged. Natural landscaping, native plants, berry bushes, fruit trees, Andy MacPherson's water tank artwork, a wood fired bread oven and a green roof on its water shed make this garden unique.  The garden was built in 1998 with support from the Working Centre and financial support from the City of Kitchener and corporate donations.
