Fall 2027 Move-In begins on Sunday, August 22, 2027 at 10 a.m. We'll share more details by email during the first week of August, so keep an eye on your @umd.edu inbox!
We will have the most staff and move-in assistance available on Sunday, August 22, 2027. If you can’t arrive that day, no worries! You can still check in at your designated service desk after August 22. Please note, we cannot accommodate early move-in requests for any reason.
First, you'll head to the check-in location for your building:
Buildings 1 & 2: Between Buildings 1 and 2
Buildings 3 & 4: In front of Building 3
Buildings 5, 6 & 7: On the pathway between Buildings 5 and 6
To help make move-in easier, we'll have temporary unloading zones to make it easier to unload your belongings near your building. Don't forget your University of Maryland ID card! You'll need it to check in, pick up your keys, and access your building's front doors and elevators.
If you have any questions about your unit once you've started moving in, please feel free to ask at your building's designated service desk. If you're bringing a bike, registration is also available at your designated service desk.
Service Desk 1: Buildings 1 & 2
Service Desk 3: Buildings 3 & 4
Service Desk 6: Buildings 5, 6 & 7
If you have questions regarding move-in, please feel free to contact us via email at southcampuscommons@cocm.com or via phone at (301) 314-2499.

Before you arrive, be sure to register for your Resident Portal. You'll use it to complete your Room Condition Report after moving in, submit maintenance requests, and pay your bills.
Before you settle in, take some time to check the condition of your bedroom and shared apartment spaces. Completing your Room Condition Report (RCR) documents the condition of your apartment when you move in and helps protect you from being charged for damage you didn't case.
When you move out, the Courtyards staff will inspect your apartment and compare its condition with the information documented at move-in. Any damage charges will be based on that assessment. If you don't submit an RCR, your apartment will be assumed to have been in satisfactory condition, with no damage, when you moved in. This means you could be held responsible for damage that was already there.
You can complete your RCR through your Resident portal as soon as you've moved in and had a chance to inspect your apartment. You must submit your RCR within 15 days of your move-in date. After 15 days, the RCR expires and cannot be reopened for any reason. Don't wait until the deadline to complete it!
Inspect your apartment. Check your bedroom and shared spaces, including the walls, flooring, furniture, applicances, and bathroom fixtures.
Document any existing damage. Select the appropriate condition for each item and describe any damage in as much detail as possible. Include measurements, locations, and specific descriptions whenever possible.
Submit your RCR. Review your entries before submitting, and consider saving or emailing yourself a copy for your records.
Take your time during the inspection, and be thorough. Documenting existing damage now can help prevent confusion when you move out.
