What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation. We naturally go into hypnosis twice a day, right before completely sleeping and before completely waking up. It is the in between state of being wakeful and asleep. Hypnosis is an excellent tool to view the contents of your subconscious mind. Hypnosis is a psycho-therapeutic tool being used to heal people since ancient times. It is a state of heightened sensitivity where you are able to feel more. It is an eastern science which has been explained of in detail in our “Atharva Veda”.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy involves accessing the subconscious mind through hypnosis and then using this state to heal unresolved suppressed emotional trauma.
How it works?
The subconscious mind is NOT the rational mind. It is very different from our conscious mind or the rational mind. Our subconscious mind is a repository of all experiences that we’ve had. When we suppress memories of grief and fear for the fear of being completely broken, we store them in our subconscious mind. We might feel that we have gotten over it but in reality we are not conscious of it in the now. Hence, these memories continue to run our lives, manifesting as anxiety, depression, panic attack, stress, anger, addictions and any other psychological, physical disorders and relationships issues. Simply understood, our experience of life is run by our subconsciously stored experiences and belief systems concluded due to these experiences. Through hypnotherapy, we access these memories, process them and release the emotions associated with them and hence, change the belief systems.
You should also be aware of the fact that this will lead you into spiritual growth. Spiritual growth means being aware of the mind. Hypnosis makes conscious what you are unconscious of. The more you become conscious of the unconscious; you tap into your creativity and true potential. Your life purpose and intuition also starts becoming clear as you tune in with the subconscious mind. Spiritual growth also comes from being able to experience difficult emotions like grief, rejection, anger and shock. Spirituality means being able to see yourself in totality, not only the good parts of you but also the dark and ugly parts of you that you disown for a variety of reasons. These are emotions which we push away because we don’t have the skill set to handle them and also because of the societal conditioning of not feeling the bad emotions. It’s important to remember that if we wish to laugh hard we have to be able to cry really hard. We can’t be selective in experiencing only the good emotions while ignoring the bad ones. If you close the window because there is rain, you won’t be able to see the sun shine as well.
The holistic nature of hypnotherapy leads for it to be one of the techniques that not only allows you to heal your presenting issue but also clears other blockages in your life that are not a part of the presenting issue as well. Example – You might come in with the presenting issue of anxiety and depression but while working on this your personal relationships and work life will improve as well. You will become aware of yourself and more aligned to your life purpose.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnosis that's conducted by a trained therapist or health care professional is considered a safe, complementary and alternative medical treatment. You will always wake up light and happy.
What impact will my personal reflection have on me?
Initially, as you reflect on your life journey and process certain life events, you will feel sad, anxious and a host of other emotions that you don’t want to feel. However, you will be taught how to navigate through them before you take it up on your own. You have to understand that this is a part of the process of closing the old stories so you can write your own new one. The latter process of creating your own vision will be more empowering and uplifting. Further, it will help you grow in mindset.

At Commit To Self, we respect the privacy of each client and guard it at all points of time. In social settings, we never introduce clients as our “client” but as a friend. We don’t disclose any information about the client with anyone, whatsoever.
How do I Choose a Therapist?
All therapists are good but the best one is the one who makes you “feel” heard and connected and also someone who doesn’t try to fix you. A very good practice of choosing therapist is to have an open and honest conversation with him/her before working with them. Knowing the techniques, having a recognised degree from a recognised place is good but what will heal the most is the trust and the connection that you build with the therapist. This therapy is all about you. Your comfort level comes first.
Does hypnotherapy work?
The conventional media has shown hypnosis as some magic and la-la land nuisance which serves zero purpose apart from cheap entertainment value. However, our sages and shamans since time immemorial have used the trance state to heal people of mental trauma and dangerous physical diseases. The best part about this science is that even if you don’t believe in it, it works. Relief in mental health (anxiety and depression) of the client is observed immediately after each session. However, the results in the outer world (building new relationships, changing career, physical health issues etc) can be slower. This is dependent on the client’s emotional load, surrender towards the therapist and action taking propensity. The lesser the emotional load and the more surrender to the therapist the faster the results in these areas.
How much will be the charge?
The charges for the therapy are as follows. 1000/- Rs for a session that lasts an hour. Any time used above this will be on a chargeable basis calculated at the same rate.
