Career Choice & Launch: New Models for the Future of Work Recent research from Dell indicates that 80% of the jobs available in 2030 have not been invented yet. New ways of working, novel career options, and rapid technology adoption demand an evolution of proven career tools to serve clients better today and help them plan careers for a largely unknown future. In this data-driven keynote, we'll uncover the forces behind these shifts and predictions we can use to better guide clients in career planning today and beyond. We'll also look at new research guiding corporate programs in purposeful work and skills-based hiring that we can use as models to modernize traditional career development frameworks. You'll experience and integrate practical tools you can use with students and clients tomorrow to figure out their next career step while setting a foundation to adapt in a fast-changing future.

In a service area like EMT, Law Enforcement, or the Military there are always things you are trained to do before entering an environment or engaging in a situation. This can be anything from scene safety, event location, and cultural considerations. All of this training is put into action before they approach an event. As educators, we can utilize a similar methodology as we approach each student. Learning to evaluate and observe our students independently is a hard task but it can have a significant impact on the student's experience. In this break-out session, we will have the hard conversation about the things we do and don't see when we look at our students and how that can affect the way we approach them.

In 2019, as an education leadership council initiative, Colorado developed a first-in-the-nation model, the Colorado Career Conversations Training project, to train career advisors across systems. Meaningful Career Conversations intend to provide training for professionals across sectors so that Colorado can magnify the impact and develop needed career advising capacity. This introductory session includes the importance of growing our career advisor pool and capacity, highlights the Indigo Pathway DISC Assessment, and allows participants to explore various resources and tools that support Meaningful Career Conversations that help deepen career advising skills. Career Connected Learning is becoming increasingly important for students in Colorado schools. Educators are faced with the challenge of providing students with authentic and individualized learning experiences, both inside and outside the traditional classroom. Collaboration between the educational system and the industries for which we’re preparing students is essential, and this session will dive into those issues. You’ll learn about the success the Careers in Construction program has had in bridging the gap between the construction industry, schools, and more importantly students, and gain insights about how you might replicate some of these ideas in your own community.
Uniquely Abled Academy: Advanced Manufacturing for Adults on the Autism Spectrum

How do we provide careers for individuals with disabilities who are unemployed or underemployed? Cherry Creek Innovation Campus is offering classes to adults with disabilities. We completed our initial cohort of Uniquely Abled Academy in August. Our class provides technical training, professional certifications, and professional skills to give our students a career making parts in industries like medical devices and aerospace. Come and learn about the possibilities!
ACE CTE 101

This presentation is designed to provide new ACE-CTE teachers with a comprehensive understanding of how ACE fits into the national and state CTE systems. The session will cover ACE program approval expectations, classroom resources, VE-135s, work-based learning, CTSOs, (SC)2, Advisory Boards, and more. We will also allocate time for questions to ensure that all attendees have a clear understanding of the material covered.
Connecting ICAP to WBL

Our district (D49) has discovered the impact of ICAP in driving work-based learning opportunities for our students! Having a robust ICAP process is key. It has become evident that work-based learning thrives when accompanied by a well-structured ICAP process. District 49 has strategically leveraged our ESSER funds to establish the Choice & Success Program. This program centers its efforts on two pillars: ICAP and Work-based Learning. We’ve deployed a team of five high school advisors and three middle school advisors, all dedicated to the singular mission of creating and growing our ICAP and WBL process and opportunities. As we enter into our third year, we continue to witness just how powerful ICAP and WBL can be!

Safely Credentialing with Augmented and Virtual Reality

Research shows that correctional education programs in juvenile detention centers and prisons reduce recidivism and translate into reductions in crime, savings to taxpayers, and long-term contributions to the safety and well-being of the communities to which formerly incarcerated people return. Discover how various correctional education programs are using augmented and virtual reality to safely help adult learners prepare and potentially technical credentials in HVAC, Manufacturing, Agri-Science, and Transportation pathways. Utilizing a strengths based approach, we can empower students of all ages and learning styles by better understanding how to accommodate different types of thinking and processing. Throughout this session, we will discuss actionable steps to creating a more inclusive classroom and meeting students where they are at. By applying a neurodiverse-inclusive approach in the classroom, we can support all learning styles and learn how accommodations can benefit all students in the classroom. Learn more about Colorado’s shared vision for students and youth with disabilities and how systems can collaborate in supporting students from a young age. The Sequencing of Services Initiative provides an interagency framework that focuses on high expectations around 6 Core Outcomes that schools, agencies, community partners, and families can all work towards to compliment services for a more comprehensive transition planning experience. This session will raise awareness of Colorado’s Interagency Sequencing of Services Initiative and support the connection to partners to better support our students and their families for success post high school.
New Tools to Support Justice Engaged Students Toward Educational Success

Through an Attorney General’s Justice Innovation Grant (2020-2023), case management was undertaken for 20 justice-engaged youth to support school re-entry and success. With only 20% of adjudicated youth earning a diploma nationwide, the support team (researcher, former principal, SPED director, transition navigator) supported students, families, and schools in moving students toward graduation. Participants will be introduced to educational journey mapping and work together to analyze adjudicated student’s journey maps, gaining understanding of trajectory. This includes opportunities or exclusion from best first instructional practices, access to culturally relevant support, and what made the difference for those who ultimately graduated.

ACE on the Career Center Campus - Mixin' it up!

The Career Center Campus has recently added a second ACE pathway to its existing ACE program. This means that students now have two different options to choose from when it comes to their education. The campuswide ACE program now serves a variety of students with differentiated needs and instruction allowing students to be placed in classes that are best suited for their individual learning abilities. The Career Center Campus is committed to providing a quality education for all students as they continue to learn and grow as an institution.
