CollegeFill Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026

CollegeFill is a browser extension and optional Master Profile preparation service that helps users organize and reuse their own college-application information on supported Common App and University of California application pages.

Data CollegeFill handles

The CollegeFill extension handles information a user enters or imports into the local Master Profile and information the user directs CollegeFill to read from supported application pages. This may include name and contact details and educational application information such as schools, courses, grades, test scores, honors, and activities. CollegeFill does not support or store family, parent, sibling, or household-financial information.

Chrome extension storage and retention

Master Profile data and temporary form-filling state are stored locally in the user's browser using Chrome's local extension storage. Uploaded documents are processed locally. The extension does not automatically send Master Profile data to CollegeFill, an AI service, analytics services, or advertising services. Local data remains until the user clears it or uninstalls the extension.

The extension can download an AI interchange JSON file only when the user selects Export for AI. Creating the file does not upload it. The user chooses whether and where to share that file. Import from AI reads a file the user selects, validates it locally, shows a merge plan, and changes only included destinations after confirmation.

Optional AI connector and MCP processing

If a user asks a compatible AI service to use the CollegeFill connector, the information the user provides for that request passes through the selected AI service and the CollegeFill MCP endpoint. The MCP endpoint uses it only to create, validate, or prepare a CollegeFill Master Profile response for the current request. The MCP implementation has no user accounts or profile database and is designed not to retain, cache, or log profile contents. The selected AI service handles information under its own privacy policy and account settings.

Users should provide only the information needed for the requested profile sections and should not include account passwords, authentication codes, Social Security numbers, payment information, or application login credentials.

How data is used and shared

CollegeFill uses data only to provide user-requested profile preparation, import, local profile, and form-filling functions. CollegeFill does not sell user data and does not use it for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

When the user starts a fill operation, the extension places data into the selected Common App or UC application forms. Some multi-page UC operations may use that site's Save & Continue controls as part of the user-requested operation. Data received by those application services is governed by their own privacy policies. CollegeFill never clicks a final application-submission control.

The MCP connector does not log in to, control, navigate, save, or submit Common App or UC. It only returns profile JSON for the user to import and review in the extension.

Security and user control

The extension uses only code included in the installed extension and does not execute remote code. AI interchange files use a versioned allowlist schema and exclude extension-owned confirmation flags and removed family or household fields. Users must review their Master Profile and every filled field on the application website.

Users can edit or clear their local Master Profile, remove local extension data by uninstalling the extension, and choose not to use the optional AI connector.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

This policy may be updated if CollegeFill's data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are made.
