Contaminants Commonly Found in Fecal Matter

Concern levels are further detailed in other reports

Urban Environment Impact

  • Dog parks place green organic spaces next to increasingly sealed and paved surfaces making organic materials easier to transfer in runoff water

  • Most effective solution is to remove pet waste immediately but alternate measures are needed to ensure better protection

  • Certain contaminants harmful for consumption are found in the soils of dog parks from higher use and concentration

  • Overall park impact is largely determined by user frequency and location within the city or near other natural resources

  • Soil concentrations flow in similar directions of natural contours and water paths
