PROLOGUE
Installation of app - 3 weeks ago at a PD at a teacher conference all about midnfulness and self compassion for teachers by teachers.... she downloaded it to enter into a raffle for a "self care" basket which was full of chocolate. She ate all the chocolate but has never opened the app.
ANGIE IS STRESSED
Angie is a middle school biology teacher of 10 years in the public schools. She is married with no children. She is too exhausted to even think about the process of making children. She is so stressed.
HER STUDENTS ARE STRUGGLING
Students are struggling. This new 5th grade class has so many IEP's and 504's as well as undiagnosed issues. It's so frustrating as there is no time to differentiate or connect with the specialists. Parents at home are not a big help, and often do not even show up for the IEP meetings because they don't want their child labeled.
ANGIE IS WATCHING THE CLOCK
Angie is frequently watching the clock... She has to pee really bad and change her tampon. She's mad at herself for yelling at James earlier in class. He's smart but she has no time for him… He just wanted to know more about the X chromosone. Time is moving slowly.... She looks at the clock again!
ANGIE IS WATCHING HER STUDENTS
They aren't doing any better! Angie observes her students knowing they are going thru so much. She wants to help give them a sense of peace, but she just seems to absorb all their feelings and negative emotions like a sponge instead. She sobs at night, for her students, for herself, for her unborn children.
BELL RINGS FOR PLANNING PERIOD
Her classroom is suddenly calm and quiet. But a lingering ringing seems to be apparent. Is it tinnitus? Or just her brain...?
ANGIE RACES DOWN THE HALL
Angie races down hall to the bathroom and then lounge for her break to relax and maybe get a coffee. She is hoping that a fresh pot is brewing and she doesn't have to fill the coffee maker with water, again.
ANGIE GOES TO THE LOUNGE
Angie's able to grab a fresh cup of coffee in lounge. There was even sugar free coffee creamer in the frig in her favorite flavor! The emptiness of the lounge is just what she needed, but she feels something is missing and her agitation continues...
WELLNESS ALERT POPS UP
In the silence, her phone beeps! Confused at who would be messaging her during the day, she sees a wellness alert pops up on her phone! She vaguely recalls downloading and registering as app at that conference. After all, she did win the wellness baskets of "goodies" which was mainly chocolates she ate in the car on the way home.

Angie sees a pop up screen asking how she feels… she is so tired but happy this choice is easy and she doesn't have to write anything. She chooses the confused and stressed emoji.
CHOICES
This takes her directly to the Welcome Choices and she hits Practices, mumbling a prayer under her breath that this better be worth the effort.
AUDIO EXERCISES
This takes her to the Practices Choices and Angie chooses the Audio Exercises.She just wants to close her eyes and enjoy a nice voice leading her thru exercises.
BODY SCAN CHOICE
Angie chooses the Body Scan from the Audio Exercises choices. She recalls at the teacher conference some other lady was raving about how good it was and how great it made her feel. She even said it helped her marriage! Angie was hoping it could make her feel good enough to get thru the rest of the day and be pleasant to her students.
BODY SCAN ACTIVITY
The Body Scan Audio Practice starts up. Angie is slowly taken away into a different world, one in which her mind and body connect… She gets comfortable and closes her eyes to focus on her breath.
THE VOICE LEADS HER THRU THE EXERCISE
After a minute of the guided meditation, Angie becomes aware of the feeling the irritation and stress in her back... she begins to release it with each breath. Her focus moves to the next area...
SO RELAXING GETTING IN TUNE WITH HER BODY
Angie tunes in to the tension and feelings of sadness in her neck and head... she begins to release it with each breath... She is guided to each area of her body, noticing sensations and releasing the negative ones. She almost falls asleep!
ANGIE IS REFRESHED!
Angie is gradually brought back into her surroundings, refreshed & ready to tackle the rest of the day!
BELL RINGS BACK IN THE CLASSROOM
Angie walks back to her classroom as she hears the bell ringing. She feels relaxed, happy, and ready to start her lesson with her incoming class.
NEXT CLASS
Angie begins her lesson on biomes. She notices that her class is having great group discussions and are taking notes. She feels like this is the best class she's had all year.
FEELING GOOD ENOUGH TO WAVE GOODBYE!
After waving goodbye to her students, Angie is feeling great. Her students can't wait to come to class tomorrow. What a great lesson!
WELLNESS ALERT!
After car rider duty, another notification pops up on Angie's phone.
HOW WAS YOUR DAY?
The app pops up and asks Angie how her day went. The mind-body relationship from the body scan exercise during Angie's break has really made a difference in her day.
ANGIE AT HOME THAT NIGHT
Angie goes home to enjoy time with her husband and her cats. She tells her husband about the way the app made her feel relaxed and ready to help her students. She cannot believe how ready she feels for tomorrow's workday.
