For mining operations, you need to bring fuel to the site. Managing your fuel depots and accounting for fuel dispensed from your fuel trucks has never been easier. Whether it occurs at your fuel site or in the pit/field, fueling begins by scanning a vehicle mounted RFID disk or simply inserting the fuel nozzle into the equipment fill pipe. Volumes dispensed and machinery engine hours are automatically recorded as you move from one vehicle to another and stored in a central database. Inventory reconciliation and performance reports are generated using SM2, a web-enabled tool designed for central management of multiple sites and tankers.
Increase accountability by reconciling fuel inventories, from deliveries to depots, to distribution to field equipment
Drastically reduce labor by providing 24/7 unattended secure access to fuel
Eliminate fraud and errors by physically guaranteeing that fuel is dispensed to authorized vehicles only
Eliminate spillage by cutting off the flow of fuel whenever nozzle is removed from authorized vehicle
Satisfy environmental agencies regulations by automatically recording and reconciling fuel consumption to inventories
Enhance safety by immediate notification of storage tanks leaks
Increase efficiency by automating fuel distribution and inventory, vehicle data, and access control processes through a single, web based software
Centralized management of fuel distribution, fuel inventories, vehicle data, and site access control across multiple sites through a high end, flexible, and user friendly cloud based application
Automatic inventory management, transparently recording all data needed for fuel inventory reconciliation including storage tank levels, product deliveries and pump totalizers: no human action required!
Immediate notification of storage tank leaks and critical fuel levels
Truly plug-and-play Vehicle Data Units, requiring no programming or configuration
Maintenance free passive nozzle tags requiring no battery, no hose cable, and no messy pump retrofit
Vehicle identification using rugged, weatherproof passive RFID tags that can be read through mud and dirt.

SM2 Fuel, the only tool you need to account for every drop of fuel spent
The honor system… is no system at all.
Let’s start by getting the obvious out of the way. After labor, fuel represents the highest cost of running a fleet. If you have your own fuel tanks and pumps, you need a fuel management system. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Fuel is expensive, and constantly buying it without knowing who takes it, how much of it and where it goes is as unacceptable as having a bank account without the same level of control.
However there is one additional, major benefit in having a fuel management system. It is an investment that pays for itself, and then some! With a fuel management system in place, the savings achieved relative to an “open bar”/honor system scenario represents at least 10% of fuel consumption. Some numbers may help illustrate the point.
Let’s take the example of a 50 vehicle fleet, and suppose that each unit consumes an average of 50 liters per week. Even if we look at a scenario where you pay only $1/L, that still adds up to $130,000 a year, and we’re not even considering how much higher that number could be if fraud and leaks are taken into account. As mentioned previously, a control system can reduce consumption by at least 10%, i.e. $13,000 in this case.
That is nothing to sneeze at, and a 50 vehicle fleet isn’t even that big. Many products and services present themselves as investments, but this is one case where this view is especially true.
When it comes to the management of your fleet, you simply cannot mess around with something as critical as your fuel tracking and consumption. Contact us today to find out how SM2 Fuel can help optimize your fueling operations. Thanks for watching and until next time, keep it efficient.
