The Non-Food Product Development Program focuses on the development and utilization of new and high-value non-food products from various parts of the coconut palm, as follows: Coconut-based solid and liquid bio-fuels/bioenergy; Coconut husks and Coir processing and machinery development; Coconut wood furniture, handicrafts and other high-value non-food products.
The program focuses on the following: (1) Coconut Timber Utilization; (2) Decorticating/Baling machines; (3) Village Level Copra Processing; (4) Copra Dryers; (5) Coconut Fiberboard; (6) Coconut Products and By-products; (7) Coconut Novelties; (8) Coconut Methyl Ester; (9) Galactomannan extraction and isolation protocol; (10) Binderless Fiberboard; and (11) Liquid and solid biofuel.
