What is Connect Conference?
The Connect Conference is a two-day event for Japanese Christians who have encountered Christ overseas, to equip them before returning to Japan as those sent by Christ.
"So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
Ephesians 4:11-13
Today, many Japanese people live abroad for reasons such as study, work or international marriage. Many of them come into contact with the gospel during their time abroad, believe the gospel and then return to their home country. Also, even Japanese nationals who plan to stay overseas for a long time or live outside Japan permanently will often return to Japan to spend time with family and friends living in Japan. And those who became Christians in Japan and then spend time abroad later return to Japan after growing in faith while away. After returning home to Japan these people connect to the church, share the love of Christ with their families and friends, and are being used by God in His mission.
However, the reality is that most returnees experience reverse culture shock, which impacts their Christian life. Sadly, many of them stop attending a church after returning home to Japan.
The purpose of the Connect Conference is for Japanese Christians overseas (mainly those living in the UK/Europe) to receive encouragement from the Lord and be trained and prepared for their return to Japan as disciples of Christ, so they can share God's love in Japan.
We would also love to be joined at the conference by non-Japanese Christians who are reaching out to Japanese friends and trying to support them in their return to Japan.
Please come and join us to be connected, encouraged and to learn together!
Who is this for?
*Japanese Christians who are returning to Japan in the future.
*Japanese Christians who are long term residents abroad and would like to support Japanese returnee Christians and serve God with them.
*Non-Japanese Christians who reach out to Japanese people.
