Abstract water photography - reflections.
Nur Uretmen is an abstract photographer based in Turkey, she focuses on capturing patterns and distortion in water.
I will be focusing mainly on her water photograph - capturing the natural surface of water and the patterns it creates.
Her photographs have this glossy and crisp look, all capturing the same subject of water. Her photographs are all unique with different perspectives and shape distortions. Throughout her work, she includes the natural reflection of buildings and its bold colours. With this photograph, it captures shades red and orange which works well against the bright blue base.
Her technique is to capture the water while it's still moving, and creates this subtle rounded shapes. What used to be a building is now in pieces, scattered around in bubbles which has this abstract painted look.
From afar the view of water is more visible and the closer we view the piece the more of an abstract piece it becomes. Her works is interesting as they are all focused on the natural movement rather than being forced.
With my responses, I will create natural responses which will be taken outside, rather than using Photoshop or any editing software to force a distortion. I think that it will be better to capture images naturally as they have more of a glossier feel.
Experimenting with positioning and angles of the water. I will try and find locations which has a large body of water with buildings surrounding it.
