Google Site

We built a a site much like this one to link everything our teachers need to be successful. Developing this resource and a place where a link to it can be accessed by all staff was a game changer for us. Click here for tutorials and helps to build your own Google Site.

Subject Expertise

Each person on our team has areas of expertise, and we have utilized those strengths when tackling issues that arise. Some of the benefits are:

Padlet

In addition to our website, we have created a few Padlets with resources for students. Immediately after the shutdown, several of our fabulous teachers put together Padlets to share with students as well as anyone in the community in need.

Creating Tutorials for Office Staff, Teachers, and Students

iorad

iorad creates interactive and accessible tutorials guiding the user using step by step processes. There is a free version and discount pricing for educators. We created iorad tutorials for students showing them the steps for registering online and accessing their online classroom.

Screencastify

We use Screencastify to create short or long videos. Benefits include:

  • Short time required to learn to create, edit, and distribute videos

  • Send the video link in an email, text, or Remind message.

  • Reuse the same tutorials again and again.

  • Free certification courses to get you started

Zoom

Our tech team did many training sessions when our teacher first went online. All of these trainings were done over Zoom, and were recorded for teachers to review as needed. These recordings our on our Google Site. We continue to use Zoom as a way to record long and short videos walking students and staff through technology problems.

The Creation of the IT Team

In-house Team

Our Tech Team became the IT Team. Our team resolves many of the issues that might otherwise have been directed to the district IT team. Since the district is inundated with requests for help, our team is able to find solutions for our staff and students quickly.

Student Tech Support

When a student has an issue with their own device or one of ours, they fill out a form requesting help. Our team will reach out to the students to help resolve the issues. We use various ways to help the students including phone, email, text, Zoom, in-person and more.

Individualized Teacher Support

Some teachers made a smooth transition into online teaching, while others have needed quite a bit of support. Each member of our team has a group of teachers they are responsible for supporting. We reach out on a regular basis to check in and offer support.
