ClimbOn is a hiking support app that helps users create hiking plans, record activities, perform pre-hike checks, share routes, share locations during events, and prepare information for emergency communication.
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in ClimbOn.
ClimbOn may use or store the following information on the user’s device:
Hiking routes and saved plans
Hiking activity records
GPX files imported or exported by the user
Pre-hike checklist selections
Water amount and food quantity entered by the user
Emergency contact information entered by the user
Names and sharing text entered in settings
Location information used for route planning, activity recording, map display, SOS support, and related features
Event codes, participant names, and anonymous participant IDs used for event sharing features
Current location information shared during an event
Route information shared within an event
ClimbOn generally does not require account registration.
However, when using event sharing or location sharing features, information necessary to create or join events, share current location, and retrieve shared routes may be stored in or transmitted to cloud services such as Firebase.
ClimbOn uses location information to provide the following features:
Displaying the user’s current location on the map
Recording hiking activities
Displaying routes and navigation-related information
Creating SOS support information
Including coordinates in emergency or sharing messages
Sharing the user’s current location with members participating in the same event code
Location information is used to provide app functionality.
ClimbOn does not use the user’s location information for advertising, tracking, or marketing purposes.
ClimbOn is not an emergency rescue service. ClimbOn does not automatically send location information to the police, fire department, rescue organizations, or other emergency services.
ClimbOn may allow users to create an event and share an event code with other users. Users who join the same event may share route information and current location information with each other.
When using event sharing features, the following information may be stored in cloud services such as Firebase:
Event code
Event creation date and time
Event expiration time
Shared route information
Participant name
Anonymous participant ID
Participant’s latest location information
Timestamp of location updates
Location sharing occurs when the user creates or joins an event and starts location sharing.
The shared current location may be displayed to members participating in the same event code. Location information is not made public. However, users who know the event code may be able to join the event. Please be careful when sharing event codes.
Users can stop location sharing through in-app controls or by changing the location permission settings in iOS.
Events may have an expiration time. After an event expires, new participation and location updates may be restricted.
When using event sharing features, ClimbOn may use cloud services such as Firebase to store event information, shared routes, participant information, and latest location information.
This information is used to provide event sharing, route sharing, participant location display, and other app features.
ClimbOn does not use this information for advertising purposes or third-party tracking.
After an event ends, event information and location information stored in the cloud may be retained for a certain period of time and then deleted. Depending on app operation status or technical limitations, old event information may be deleted manually.
The following information is mainly stored on the user’s device:
Saved routes
Hiking activity records
Pre-hike checklist settings
Emergency contact settings
Offline map cache data
Imported shared routes
Some state information related to event participation
If the app is deleted, data stored on the device may also be deleted depending on iOS behavior and backup settings.
However, information stored in the cloud through event sharing features may not be deleted immediately when the app is removed from the device.
ClimbOn helps users create messages for SMS and other sharing features.
Shared messages may include the following information:
Current location coordinates
Route name
Recording status
Battery level
Water and food information
Pre-hike checklist status
Emergency contact or hiking plan information
Event code
Shared route information
ClimbOn does not automatically send these messages. Whether to send or share such information is decided by the user through iOS features or third-party apps.
After information is shared through SMS, messaging apps, email, social media, or other services, the information will be handled according to the privacy policies and terms of those services.
When using event sharing features, shared routes and current location information may be displayed to users participating in the same event code.
Emergency contact information entered in ClimbOn is used to assist emergency communication and the creation of sharing messages.
This information is mainly stored on the user’s device, and ClimbOn does not automatically send it outside the app.
If the user sends information using SMS, email, messaging apps, social media, or other sharing features, the information will be handled according to the policies of the service used for sharing.
ClimbOn may obtain map data from external map services for map display and offline map storage.
When using map features, technical information necessary to retrieve map tiles, such as IP address, network information, and request information, may be sent to external services.
ClimbOn may also use cloud services such as Firebase to provide event sharing and location sharing features.
Please refer to the privacy policies and terms of use of each external map service and cloud service provider for details on how they handle information.
ClimbOn allows users to import and export GPX files.
GPX files may include location information, timestamps, elevation data, route information, and other data. Please be careful when sharing GPX files with others, as they may contain personal movement history and location information.
ClimbOn does not use third-party advertising tracking within the app.
ClimbOn does not use location information, hiking records, event participation information, or shared route information for advertising purposes.
If analytics or crash reporting features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to clearly state what information is collected and for what purpose it is used.
ClimbOn is not specifically intended for children.
If children use ClimbOn, they should do so under the supervision of a parent or guardian, especially when using location information, event sharing features, emergency contact features, and sharing features.
If an event code is shared with others, the child’s current location may be displayed to users who join the same event. Parents or guardians should carefully confirm the sharing scope and participants when children use event sharing features.
ClimbOn manages data using standard iOS app storage mechanisms and cloud services such as Firebase.
However, no storage method or communication method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should properly protect their devices by using passcodes, Face ID, Touch ID, Apple ID protection, and other security settings.

If you wish to request deletion of event information stored in the cloud, please contact us through the contact information provided on the ClimbOn support page.
