ClimbOn is a hiking support app that helps users create hiking plans, record routes, use pre-hike checklists, and prepare emergency sharing messages.
This Privacy Policy explains how ClimbOn handles information.
1. Information We Collect
ClimbOn may use or store the following information on your device:
• Hiking routes and saved plans
• Recorded tracks
• GPX files imported or exported by the user
• Pre-hike checklist selections
• Water and food amounts entered by the user
• Emergency contact information entered by the user
• User name or sharing message text entered in settings
• Location information while using route planning, recording, maps, or SOS support features
ClimbOn does not require account registration.
2. Location Information
ClimbOn uses location information to provide features such as:
• Showing your current location on the map
• Recording hiking tracks
• Displaying route and navigation information
• Preparing SOS support information
• Including coordinates in emergency or sharing messages
Location information is processed for app functionality. ClimbOn does not operate as an emergency rescue service and does not automatically send your location to emergency services.
3. Local Storage
Most app data is stored locally on your device, including:
• Saved routes
• Recorded tracks
• Checklist settings
• Emergency contact settings
• Offline map cache data
If you delete the app, locally stored data may also be deleted, depending on iOS behavior and backup settings.
4. Sharing Information
ClimbOn can help create messages for SMS or other sharing apps.
These messages may include:
• Current coordinates
• Route name
• Recording status
• Battery level
• Water and food information
• Pre-hike checklist status
• Emergency contact or plan information
ClimbOn does not send these messages automatically. You choose whether to send or share the information using iOS system features or third-party apps.
Once you share information through SMS, messaging apps, email, social apps, or other services, that information is handled according to the privacy policies of those services.
5. Emergency Contact Information
Emergency contact information entered in ClimbOn is used to help prepare emergency communication.
This information is stored on your device and is not automatically transmitted by ClimbOn.
6. Offline Maps and External Services
ClimbOn may display maps or download map tiles from external map providers.
When using map-related features, those external services may receive technical information necessary to deliver map data, such as map tile requests, IP address, device network information, or general usage-related request data.
Please refer to the privacy policies and terms of the relevant map providers for details.
7. GPX Files
ClimbOn allows users to import and export GPX files.
GPX files may contain location tracks, timestamps, elevations, and route information. You are responsible for managing GPX files carefully, especially when sharing them with others.
8. No Advertising Tracking
ClimbOn does not use third-party advertising tracking in the app.
9. Analytics
If analytics or crash reporting services are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe what information is collected and how it is used.
10. Children’s Privacy
ClimbOn is not specifically directed to children. If a child uses the app, a parent or guardian should supervise the use of location, sharing, and emergency contact features.
11. Data Security
ClimbOn uses standard iOS app storage mechanisms for local data. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Users should protect their device with appropriate security settings, such as passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and iCloud account protection.
12. User Control
You can control your information by:
• Editing or deleting saved routes
• Deleting recorded tracks or exported files
• Changing checklist settings
• Editing emergency contact information
• Disabling location permission in iOS Settings
• Deleting the app from your device
Disabling location permission may prevent core features from working correctly.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the updated version will be posted on the support page or other appropriate location.
14. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact the app developer through the support contact listed on the ClimbOn support page.
