In order to feel more confident about the findings we made but also to examine any other aspects that we had not thought of, we wrote a questionnaire (a google form) and distributed it to our classmates. See here the questionnaire, the answers we received in the form of diagrams and the conclusions we reached [the questionnaire is in Greek]:
Through the questionnaire we created about climate change, we came to several important conclusions. First, we observed that the largest percentage of students (66.7%) believe that climate change will affect our local environment, mainly by bringing changes to agriculture and productivity, while at the same time 65.2% of students believe that global weather patterns will be affected mainly through melting ice, which by extension will strongly affect coastal areas. We conclude that there is particular concern regarding the development of two sectors (agriculture, fishing) which have been and continue to be a key factor in the development of Greece and other countries. Additionally, we are particularly concerned by the huge percentage of students (74.2%) who answered that they are concerned about current policies and how they will evolve in the future, as opposed to the very few students (16.7%) who answered that they feel optimistic about the progress that has been made. Regarding the actions that can be taken, initially at an individual level, the majority of students (68.2%) consider that the adoption of sustainable lifestyle choices is the main factor in combating climate change, while an equally large percentage (56, 1%) believes that proper information for themselves and for society can play quite a large role. Globally, the largest proportion (56.1%) believe that governments should invest in renewable energy infrastructure and research, with law enforcement, business incentives and global cooperation among nations following at a relatively similar rate (about 50% each). Finally, most students (71.2%) when asked about how they think future generations will be affected answered through the loss of biodiversity, which is a key factor in human well-being. Considering all of the above, we are able to understand that there is a lot of concern about climate change and warming, and there are possible ways that can be implemented to combat it.
