Tan School was established in 1973 in Bursa, Türkiye, by teachers of Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. It caters for students from early years up until entry to university.
The educational approach aims to provide students with a wide range of opportunities that support not only academic success but also physical and mental development. The school focuses on helping students develop their talents and expand their capacity to achieve both social and academic success, enabling them to become active members of the national and international community. The school strives to ensure that students develop as individuals who are inquisitive, questioning, critical thinkers, and beneficial to society. Tan Schools Özlüce Campus consists of a kindergarten, a primary school, a middle school, and two high schools, Anatolian and Science, which were established in 2019. The school’s primary focus is on students’ academic and social success in science, social studies, foreign languages, art, music, sports, and cultural activities.
In the last year of middle school, students who pass the entrance exam for the school are eligible to study for the entirety of their four years of high school. At Tan Schools Özlüce Campus, classes start at 9.00 a.m. and finish at 5.00 p.m. One of the objectives of the school is to help students prepare for the university entrance exam, a demanding process in Türkiye. In both Anatolian and Science High Schools, students study a variety of subjects in different fields, such as Maths, Geometry, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Turkish Literature, Social Studies, Geography, History, English, German, Art, Music, and Sports. However, at Tan Science High School, the main focus is on different areas of science, specifically Maths, Physics and Chemistry.
Every week, students take six hours of Maths, four hours of Geometry, four hours of Chemistry, four hours of Physics, four hours of Biology, four hours of Turkish Literature, two hours of Geography, two hours of History, and two hours of Philosophy.
Another main objective of the school is to provide a chance for students to develop their foreign language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. During the week, students have four hours of English. In addition, students at Tan Özlüce Science High School participate in art, music, and sports activities. They have two hours of art or music and two hours of sports weekly. Students also have the opportunity to represent the school in various activities, competitions, and contests across the country.
The school has a multitude of clubs for students to showcase their talents in different fields, improve their abilities, and interact with other like-minded students nationally and internationally.
Students at Tan Özlüce Science High School benefit from the counselling service to help them with any problems they may have coping with difficulties in their personal or school life. The school has counsellors who actively spend time with them. Graduates of Tan Özlüce Science High School are able to gain entrance into some of the most prestigious universities in Türkiye and abroad. The total number of enrolled students at Tan Schools Özlüce Campus is about 1,200. Four hundred and eighteen of those students are in Tan Özlüce Science and Anatolian High School. Tan Özlüce High School has forty-five teachers and fifteen staff working in various areas, such as the dining hall, cleaning, the school transportation office, security, and technical services.
