Instructional Solution Selected
The instructional solutions selected for this website include a student-centered, multimedia learning experience supported by microlearning modules, interactive role exploration tools, scenario-based learning activities, and guided career pathway mapping. The website will also incorporate short explanatory videos, visual infographics, and knowledge checks to help learners actively engage with key Educational Technology concepts.
These solutions are designed to help prospective students understand the field of Educational Technology by breaking complex ideas, such as instructional design, learning theory, and technology integration, into clear, accessible, and engaging learning experiences.
These instructional strategies were selected to ensure that users are not passively reading about Educational Technology but actively engaging with it in a meaningful way. Because the website's goal is to help students understand both the academic and career aspects of the field, interactive and visual learning tools were chosen to make abstract concepts more concrete and relevant.
Learning Principles and Research-Based Best Practices
This instructional design is based on Cognitive Load Theory by presenting information in smaller, manageable chunks; Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory through the use of visuals and audio; Constructivist Learning Theory by encouraging active engagement; and Bloom’s Taxonomy by supporting deeper understanding and application of concepts. Adult Learning Theory also supports the design by emphasizing self-directed, practical, and career-focused learning experiences
