The instructional solution selected for this project is a 3–5-minute online multimedia presentation designed to educate students about the Educational Technology degree and the range of professional opportunities it offers. It was selected because new students often misunderstand Educational Technology, including the role of Educational Technologists, professional skills, and career paths. With concise, engaging, and accessible content for learners, the video presentation is more effective than traditional text-based materials. According to principles of multimedia learning and instructional design, the combination of visuals, narration, and information can engage students’ attention and support knowledge retention. Since prospective students are diverse learners who often benefit from visually engaging and accessible information, the multimedia presentation accommodates different learning preferences and increases learner engagement.
The pedagogical strategies, multimedia design, media, and technology selected for this project support the fostering of a learning community by creating an engaging, learner-centered experience for prospective students. The use of visuals, narration, organized information, and real-world examples encourages learner engagement, reflection, and participation within the learning experience. In addition, the instructional design helps learners connect Educational Technology to real-world career opportunities, which supports motivation and meaningful learning.
The selected instructional solution supports a wide range of learners and learning needs by offering flexible and accessible learning opportunities. Since prospective students come from diverse educational and professional backgrounds, the multimedia presentation uses visuals, narration, and organized content to support different learning preferences and enhance understanding of the Educational Technology field. In addition, the online format allows learners to review the content at their own pace and from different locations, supporting accessibility and learner flexibility.
