The "Longest Line of Coloring Pages" in the world consists of 8,027 colored pages that was produced by hundreds of students at Eisenhower Junior High School in Taylorsville, Utah, USA. The coloring pages formed a continuous line 3,585 feet eight-inches in length and took over one hundred students six hours to complete on 24 April 2026. This world record was previously held by students in Beijing, China, who colored 5,930 pages in 2024.
In their effort to make the "Longest Line of Coloring Pages," EJHS students followed the requirements publicized by Guinness World Records, which included: 1) the record is measured by the number of colored pages in a line, 2) the record can be attempted by an individual or a team of unlimited size, 3) there is no time limit to creating the line, 4) each colored page must have a minimum size of 5.13 inches by 7 inches or greater, 5) each page must contain a recognizable line art image that is pre-approved by GWR, 6) each page must have line art that is colored in manually using crayons, colored pencils, marker pens, paint or other artistic media, 7) at least two different colors must be used on each page, 8) the entire design of each page must be colored in, 9) there must be no gaps in the line with each page only touching the page before and after it in the line, 10) no instrument or technique to connect the items may be used (although the pages can be pegged on a string), and 11) the line must be continuous but does not have to be straight.
Over the past thirty-nine years, EJHS students have broken multiple world records—three of which were Guinness World Records (headquartered in England) and six which were accepted by The Book of Alternative Records (headquartered in Germany).
Faculty members of EJHS have said that “When schools attempt world records their students learn important skills—including communication, concentration, cooperation, creativity, logistics, organization, problem-solving strategies, self-disciple and respect for others.” EJHS students will be helped in this upcoming after-school record attempt by past and present faculty and staff members of the school.
This world record attempt was conducted under the direction of Zach Layton, a Journalism and English Teacher at EJHS. For further information about this world record attempt, contact Zach Layton at Eisenhower Junior High School, 4351 Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, 84123, phone: 385-646-5154.
